Top Law Schools

Checking in, went under review 9/14. In last years thread the first round of acceptances occurred on Oct. 1st. Did anyone hear anything today or get accepted via status checker? -- above 25th percentile lsat and above 75th percentile GPA

Been UR since 9/9. Nothing so far!

Checking in. Any one know if UGA prefers their in-staters more than out-of-staters, like in TX?

I don't know if they are have a policy of accepting a certain percentage of in-state applicants as texas does, but i do know that they are very willing to give a in-state tuition equalizer to out of state people.

Georgia's in-state tuition is hard to beat.

FWIW, I don't know anyone from out of state in my class who didn't get the in-state tuition equalizer. The staff also hosts seminars on how to qualify as a resident (which is pretty easy).

Checking in. Applied when it opened, went under review a few days later. Still under review.

Looks like they sent out acceptances first week of October last year, so I don't imagine the wait will be much longer.

The year before was oct. 29th so definitely before nov.

Checking in. Love Athens and it's a good option should I decide that I want to stay in Georgia.

Congrats! Athens is a fun, fun town. Athens has some good restaurants, a couple really good breweries (Creature Comforts is great and near campus), and my favorite music venue in Georgia (the Georgia Theatre). Football and tailgating is also a huge deal and Atlanta is about an 1 hour drive.

Athens is a little slice of heaven. The food is great, the music scene is outstanding, the people are friendly, the cost of living is low. Athens is close to perfect.

I'd like to know as well. I got my acceptance letter in the mail and there was no mention of $$. I'm above both medians according to the medians thread (they don't list the 75ths so not sure exactly where my numbers are), so I'm guessing they're being sent separately. Any current students who can confirm?

Has anybody had success garnering a solicited fee waiver? Looking to apply ASAP but saving the $50 would be pretty cool.

They give them away like candy at Halloween. The admissions department is extremely friendly and easy to communicate with. Good luck!

+1 the admissions department is informative, helpful, and friendly. It couldn't hurt to email/call and ask for a waiver.

As far as scholarship $ goes, I applied in March and found out that I was getting some money about a week after I learned about being admitted. No clue about anyone who applied early. If you're above the 75th for GPA or LSAT, there is a good chance for scholarship money. If you're out of state and make it clear you want to become an in-state resident, they'll give you an in-state tuition equalization scholarship, which is worth about $20K.

The amount of the scholarship is probably going to be the biggest factor in deciding where I go, should I ask admissions about this prior to receiving a scholly offer (I don't want to make assumptions) or just wait and see and then negotiate? I hope I hear before March. Seat deposits will coming due April 1, and I'm hoping everything is settled by then.
