Will deposit and then immediately ask for more before my last 80K+ deadline
They said no to me with the try again after deposit part. I may deposit and then work to get off the waitlist at UCLA and Northwestern. Still haven't heard from Vanderbilt yet. Pretty disappointed with USC's 2015 employment stats for biglaw. Hard to stomach going $150k plus in debt when only 38% of grads get the result I want.

Edit: I was offered more from another top ranked school that is equal to them, just based on cost USC is less attractive now.
Isn't 38% already better than the previous year?

USC took almost 40 transfers for class of 2015 and that hurts big law placement because usually transfers cant get big law.

Been sitting at Final Review for a few days now. Is this a rejection? I don't recall the mailing section being there during CR/Complete status.

I'm still at complete. I'm so over it I actually think it's funny at this point. It's like they saw my app and just said "we'll pass".

1st deposit deadline is Sunday. I'd expect a wave of admissions this week.

Yeah, update from Law Day - pretty much no one is going here. I talked to maybe five students who were sure. The rest were 'maybe' but leaning toward other schools. So waitlisters should definitely keep hopes up.

Most everyone I spoke to was committed...but way too small to be a good sample size. What did you think of Law Day? I had to leave early (at 3ish, after the mock class) - did I miss anything valuable?

Did they talk about the 2015 employment numbers at all? How about grades? That was a touchy subject during my ASD that the panel was advised not to elaborate.

They didn't talk about 2015 employment numbers, but they did give us a copy of them, a list of employers that hired students, and a list of employers that are doing campus interviews. The ABA has the numbers, too, albeit not with such pretty graphs.

http://gould.usc.edu/assets/docs/career ... duates.pdf

Not a huge difference, all in all. Mainly just a bit of a drop in big law.

Also, I spoke to 30ish people, and maybe five were committed. A lot of them initially said they were leaning toward it, until I openly said that I was leaning away from, and then the flood gates of truth opened. Haha.

Actually there is no way to tell how many people will get off the waitlists at all and it will probably be far fewer than last year. You are overlooking that there are FAR MORE applicants with high scores this cycle and USC usually accepts over 1200 people and only needs a small yield to fill its 200 class.

Mind if I ask where you get the 1200 from?

If you got a scholarship from USC and the deposit it due tomorrow, they require you to withdraw from schools that you have been admitted to. Have you guys done that already?

Not sure how to withdraw from Hastings, no portal of any sort.

All of my schools had their deposit day yesterday, so I deposited at USC first to be safe before withdrawing from everywhere else.

For schools w/o a formal way to withdraw, I sent an email to the Admissions Office and that was enough.

I withdrew thru emailing each Admissions office. I reread the scholarship requirements and I think you only can't double deposit, so technically you don't have to withdraw the other acceptances. I'm sitting on a few wait lists that I may take if they don't budge on scholarship.

Right, so that's total offers. They don't give all those offers out at once. In previous years, up to a quarter of people came in off the waitlist, according to one of the deans I spoke with. They can't bank on the same number declining every year.

So I'll repeat again what I said to waitlisters - good luck to you. There's a good chance you'll get in, especially compared to T14s.

I replied back to my offer of admission and got a reply back next day. This was back in January, though, so they may be a bit slower now.

Just went df, must have been in the last 20 minutes, but no decision. Don't understand why they waited a whole week and a half when they're just gonna say no, but whatever. Good luck to you all as well if you've changed too.

So, how do they notify acceptance/rejection/waitlist? E-mail/mail/phone-call?

Acceptances are via email, rejections are via snail mail I believe, and waitlists have been displayed on the status checker and later followed up by an email.

In the last month everything has been by email. If they go back to snail mail I may actually lose it.
