I'm pretty sure my date changed!!! Is " Your application is ready for review" the same as UR? Because my date changed to 1/21!

It sounds like they may be considering wait listing you based on what you said. To save yourself from YP it might be smart to demonstrate your interest now. I'm not sure if sending a LOCI would necessarily be the right choice though since if you are waitlisted you will need to do another. Maybe give them a call with questions? Some people have called in lieu of visiting and just asked if they could speak with someone in admissions and that worked for them! There is more about this in the "Waitlist Oasis" thread!earthabides wrote:Would it be weird to write a LOCI for for cornell in the next few days? Yeah, YP is possible. Did you write a Why Cornell? If not, maybe write something substantive and ask for it to be added to your file?skimmilk wrote:It sounds like they may be considering wait listing you based on what you said. So, had my interview and kinda botched the why Cornell question. I feel like it sounded like I didn't know why I wanted to go there. I'm a splitter, several points above 75 lsat but just below 25 gpa. Do I need to worry about YP? I want to write a follow up explaining why I'd like to attend but the last thing I'm trying to do is come off as not genuine and put the dagger in my app. Any feedback appreciated.

Offhand, does anyone know when scholly and fin aid information starts going out? Figured I'd ask here before digging into last year's thread to look.
I know you have to submit all the required information first but seeing as how no one has gotten any offers yet, I'd imagine they wait until later in the cycle to make their decisions.

I really wouldn't worry about YP. Their acceptance stats don't give the impression they YP much (though I'm certainly no expert so my interpretation could definitely be wrong). Anecdotally, if Cornell did YP I would probably be a strong candidate for it and still got accepted. You can pm me for my info if you want.edditb wrote:So, had my interview and kinda botched the why Cornell question. I feel like it sounded like I didn't know why I wanted to go there. Re: Cornell Law School c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Cornell doesn't seem to YP on numbers, and as a splitter I wouldn't worry too too much about YP in general. Despite the fact that Cornell doesn't YP, if you really didn't give any sense that you had any idea why you wanted to attend, that's probably not a good look at all and could open you up to a w/l. I mean, these folks are human, and though they know they aren't HYS, they also aren't the Rocco Clubbo School for Women, so they can afford to pass on anyone who doesn't quite sit right with them.edditb wrote:So, had my interview and kinda botched the why Cornell question. All that being said, the format of the Cornell interview seems to make folks feel like they did far worse than they actually did. I'd sit on it over the weekend and if it's still bugging you, write a note. To me, that would show even more sincere interest.

Re: Cornell Law School c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I got invited to the Kira interview. It was surprising tbh, I applied round 2 ED with 167/3.73, so YP shouldn't be a problem. From what I understand, this interview is aimed at screening out those who are not genuinely interested or getting to know more about borderline applicants. I thought I would get a quick decision (admit/deny) since I applied ED. Any thoughts?

In your case, the first condition is irrelevant, as you're the most interested applicant they can get (you're committing if they admit you), so they are definitely using the interview to learn more about you to inform their decision. I wouldn't call you borderline, though. You're right on their median LSAT and just 0.01 off their GPA. I know below median is below median, but it's not like you're working with a 3.3 or something. Do your best and hopefully you'll get some great news!FeteGalante wrote:I got invited to the Kira interview. It was surprising tbh, I applied round 2 ED with 167/3.73, so YP shouldn't be a problem. Re: Cornell Law School c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
For those of you wondering about interview questions, the ones I got as practice questions (and I did about 20 practice rounds until the questions just started repeating themselves) were all different from the ones on the real thing. Here's what they asked:
-Describe the best class you've taken
-what is your favorite book?
-what are you looking for in a law school community?
-what motivates you intrinsically?
I had 30 seconds to plan, and 1 minute to answer for each of them.

I agree. MyLSN shows this poster's chances at like 90%+. I don't think Fete should be worried at all.fliptrip wrote:In your case, the first condition is irrelevant, as you're the most interested applicant they can get (you're committing if they admit you), so they are definitely using the interview to learn more about you to inform their decision. Just did the robo-interview. Surprised that there weren't many questions related to 'why law' or 'why Cornell' but maybe different applicants get different questions?

I didn't even get a "why Cornell". I was asked why I chose my UG (lol! I barely remember why I did) and also about what I was most proud of.lemondrop wrote:Just did the robo-interview.
