Would someone mind checking if there are any JS1 slots still open? thanks

There are a handful open on the 17th and 18th. However, as another poster pointed out last week, this may be an inexact metric:lawstud24 wrote:Would someone mind checking if there are any JS1 slots still open? thanks
cantorb wrote:
Not necessarily - slots that are filled sometimes reopen a day or two later due to there being multiple interviewers. I know this is not just because of people cancelling, because my slot reopened two days after I booked mine even though I never cancelled or changed my slot.

It's super chill - almost anti-climactic. Be prepared to say why you want to go to law school and have some thoughts about what you'd like to do in the future, both at HLS and beyond. That said, totally okay to say you not quite sure yet and are looking forward to the everything HLS has to offer to find out.pigzorz wrote:Have my JS1 today. Any last minute advice?
Oh, don't forget to breathe and smile. That helps a ton.

Know you're résumé through and through, and be ready to address any weaknesses or unclear points.
I also asked my interviewer what other students in my field of interest have done after graduating and got a great answer.

Already too good for us here? Go on then, get with your own kind.cantorb wrote:Sorry to interrupt the JS1s but can we get a separate thread started for those admitted already? I know it probably belongs in a forum for c/o 2019 but it doesn't look like the admins here are getting around to that anytime soon.

Just be that gunner who asks a mod to create the C/O '19 forum and you can create the future HLSers board of your dreams.oliverotis wrote:lurker throwin shade! seriously though, too soonmy prole called life wrote:Haha hell yeah. Btw, this has undoubtedly already been said, but for any of you nervous about impending interviews, I just want to reassure you that the interviewers are really friendly & not out to trip you up at all. Good luck!

Had interview. Feeling pretty meh about it but I definitely didn't bomb or anything and I'm just going to remind myself that it was a good sign to get one. Wish I could've recorded my Columbia interview and sent that to them - much smoother.

Yeah I had the same kind of worry, just wish I could have done as well with Harvard's interview as I did with Chicago's.pigzorz wrote:Had interview. Still, JS1's this early are great indicators.
Best of luck!

This sentence alone wins you major brownie points. There's nothing I like better than young men vying for my affections.cantorb wrote:

So JS1 this early in the year is a good thing? What are we talking about with respect to numbers (likelihood of being offered admission)?

Yeah curious about this as well. It'd be interesting to see acceptance rates for JS1s prior to the new year vs after the new year vs overall.Oskosh wrote:So JS1 this early in the year is a good thing? What are we talking about with respect to numbers (likelihood of being offered admission)?

mylsn.com is your best bet for your own personal situation. However, I think consensus is that a JS1 is a Very Good Sign. We don't have good data around JS1's specifically, though. You certainly have a better chance than a coin flip, though!Oskosh wrote:So JS1 this early in the year is a good thing? Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
This is something we may have touched on earlier ITT. If you wanted to, go to the 2014-15 spreadsheet, download it (don't edit the online one), and sort by JS1 date. That should give you a rough idea of how early JS1's generally are a good thing.AshburtonGrove wrote:Yeah curious about this as well. I think we will see oct and nov js1s with extremely good chances then december with pretty good chances and then it will fall off a bit for new year js1sOskosh wrote:So JS1 this early in the year is a good thing? Re: Harvard C/O 2019 Applicants
1. Jessica Soban, Assistant Dean and Chief Admissions Officer. She doesn't do all the interviews herself anymore, but the name has stuck.lunixer wrote:Questions:
1) What does "JS" stand for? Obviously it's the interview, but just wondering
2) Did any of you send thank you letters to your interviewer? I can't remember her name and don't know if that's REALLY REALLY BAD
3) I stumbled a bit on a question. Big deal? Little deal? My interviewer said to me "oh that's a bit of an oddball" and she seemed nice, but I don't think I'd have any idea if she thought I was an idiot.
Otherwise I think it went pretty well, and it felt just super normal. Much easier than most job interviews
2. I did not send a thank you.
3. When she said, "that's a bit of an oddball," was she referring to the question or your answer? In either case, I think it's more about the overall impression than any one single answer, so I'd say little deal.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
