still UR2..... what do we think it means for the rest of us
more waitlist waves? or ding? or that very small tiny chance of a late acceptance?

wait listed...very likely to pull myself off.
like...very, very annoyed. why the f would it take them five months to put me on wl? i guess both nyu and i feel equally "meh" about each other.

Dinged via email. LSAT above 75th, GPA below 3.0
"The Committee on Admissions has carefully considered your application. I regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you admission to the New York University School of Law. We expect more than 6,000 candidates to compete for admission this year, which means that the Committee must make difficult choices.
We hope you understand that our decision on your application is not an estimate of your potential as a law student or as an attorney. Since the vast majority of our applicants are clearly capable of success in law school and beyond, we must inevitably turn away many whom we expect will succeed in law simply for lack of space in our class. Please accept our best wishes for your educational and professional success."

NYU is a beaurocratic nightmare. They gave me less than a week to accept my scholarship. They would not consider an extension of another week until I had all my offers. I'll be attending Stanford or Columbia. Thanks for nothing NYU.

I saw I was waitlisted on the status checker earlier this week, but never got an email. Can someone tell me the procedure for withdrawing from the waitlist?

Please respond to this email to let us know whether you wish to remain on the wait list or withdraw from consideration. Please include your name, LSAC identification number (your “L number”), and your current email and phone number. We encourage you to submit any additional information you think may be helpful. Updated transcripts of academic work should be sent to the LSAC for inclusion in your CAS Report.
Their email id is law.moreinfo@nyu.edu <law.moreinfo@nyu.edu>
hope that helps

Re: NYU c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Hi I'm applying this upcoming year and really want to go to NYU specifically. I have a 169 and a 3.73. Do you think that's close enough to get in? Your analysis is awesome!drblakedowns wrote:somethingelse55 wrote:How many - out of that group - are in vs. how many are still waiting?drblakedowns wrote:Fun fact: Looking at LSN for this cycle, among applicants who have an LSAT of 171 or higher, there has been one ding and zero WLs, everyone is else is in or waiting.
With the usual caveats about a self selecting sample, It seems like they are pretty much saving their decision on the >170 folks til the end.
There is similar behavior at columbia (but for LSAT > 172), so maybe that's how they do in NY.
94 on LSN with LSAT 171+ (>= school median).
173+ (>= 75th) : 57 total. 47 in; 1 ding (174, 2.75); 9 waiting. Of those waiting, only one is over 3.5. There are only two in that are under 3.5, one who applied very early (August) and was in by early December, and the other is URM-AA.
171-172 [50-75) : 37 total. 18 in; 19 waiting. No trends really pop out for this group.
Also, based on the numbers from previous years, this is what the cut off points seem to be at different LSAT scores
LSAT < 167 - Prolly not going to happen.
LSAT 167 - 169; need GPA > 3.75
LSAT 170; need GPA > 3.65
LSAT 171; need GPA > 3.39
LSAT 172; need GPA > 3.43
LSAT 173+; need GPA > 3.2

Sitting on waitlist and the prospects are not lookin good. Starting to think about reapplication for next cycle...
I will spend the next year pretty constructively, but not necessarily a game changer.
The question is: Should I apply Early Decision? (Downside is mostly scholarship $$ related, but also partly the "what if I would get into Columbia/Harvard" syndrome ). Does ED give any sort of considerable advantage at NYU?
Thanks in advance.
