You never know what happens. I wasn't expecting this at all. Hang in there and find some distractions. They sent out email at 7 pm so there is a lot to do during the day.

what's the point of having a "priority reserve list" if they're taking people on the regular WL ahead of us? I guess there's nothing so "priority" about this list. Pretty underhanded by Duke to create such meaningless categories and deceive applicants; I'm becoming very disillusioned with this whole process.

As I said earlier, if they need certain things for the class (e.g. GPA, LSAT, diversity, etc) they'll take it where they can get it, be that on the PR or the wait list. So in theory it's fair game, and to be expected.

In practice, I'm really wondering where I've gone wrong with Duke. I just don't get it. If they don't want me why don't they just release me so I can refocus elsewhere? I'm just incredibly saddened and frustrated.

ETA: I'm also having an all around bad day, so getting passed over yet again really hurts on top of everything else. Between the 8 months my app has been in limbo, and the 8 years I've devoted to something that Duke is uniquely able to help me continue and finish, I've just come to invest very heavily in Duke, and it's taking more of a toll than it should. The other schools I'm accepted at or likely to get off the waitlist at are all fine, and I'll have no trouble finding success there. And Dean Hoye and their staff are perfectly entitled to build their class however they want, and I'm sure there's method to the madness we can't see. We just either have to suck it up or withdraw. I'll do the former for now, and if I get totally convinced this is not going to happen I'll do the latter and get psyched up for great options I do have. /rant

I just get off from the wait list last week, but I did not get any financial package or information. Do you guys know how would they give out financial offers? I have to put down my deposit by 29th though.

I'm curious to the split between "would attend under any circumstances" and "would attend if admitted and got enough money." Although at this point I imagine the pool is shifting towards the former.

I will note that I am on the regular waitlist and received it with the subject line "Duke Law School Waitlist Update." The body of the email may be different. Mine indicated that they would be making a few additional offers over the next few weeks and that they would continue to monitor class size and could make offers up through August.

Yeah, sounds like what I got. Mine was almost certainly exactly the same, just with PR instead of WL.
