Re: Columbia Reserve
I'm expecting a very thin letter with "NO" scrawled across the center of the page in red crayon.

Re: Columbia Reserve
I'm sorry to hear that joonbug. But if memory serves me right, you got into NYU very recently...you've already been accepted to a great school.
What is the reserve? Is it equivalent to the waitlist or deferral? Did the letter say when you could expect a decision by?
Good luck with the rest of your cycle!

Re: Columbia Reserve
Many different law schools have different ways of saying, "We'll think about your application more in future... As of now, it's not good enough."
In the case of Columbia's reserve, I think it's more of a "deferred" status. Waitlist is more narrow in definition than "we haven't made a decision about you." Waitlist is a decision in itself.
Thanks Rend, NYU is a good school but I actually preferred Columbia. I also think if I get a full ride to either Fordham or BU, I might consider choosing the latter instead.

I see your placement on the certified idiots list was entirely justified.I also think if I get a full ride to either Fordham or BU, I might consider choosing the latter instead.

Re: Columbia Reserve
i don't see how that makes him an idiot at all. a full ride is never anything to sneeze at, especially when it comes time to paying back loans. plus i've heard nothing but awesome things about fordham -they treat their students really well and it could be a way better fit for some ppl.
I know for me I applied to columbia and fordham, but not nyu --it just didn't appeal to me, even tho it's well-ranked.

Re: Columbia Reserve
I was partly facetious.
I can see turning down NYU for a full ride at, say, Georgetown, but Fordham? Ergh.

Re: Columbia Reserve
If you're staying in NYC, full ride at Fordham completely makes sense.

"Columbia Reserve" sounds like a cheap wine or a golf course.

Re: Columbia Reserve
So wait... if I wanted to work in NYC, and I was deciding between Mich and Fordham-Full Ride, the latter would make perfect sense?

yup.waltra wrote:well its not that choosing Fordham over Michigan would always have a positive result, but.. could an active and intelligent student make a full ride at Fordham as profitable as a degree from Michigan? yes
