University of Washington Waitlist LOCI?

Hey all,
I posed this question int he U of W thread, but it got lost in all the conversation & excitement. Here it is again:
I was just wait listed via e-mail at University of Washington. Oddly enough the Dean, in his e-mail, said no LOCI, additional documents or letters of rec, etc. are wanted...? Normally schools encourage LOCIs and supplemental documents, campus visits, etc. when you get wait listed, no?
Their website says they welcome LOCIs when you are waitlisted and I spoke with someone at their admissions office who said it was okay to send a LOCI. But that e-mail was VERY EXPLICIT not to send ANYTHING AT ALL.
Seems confusing and contradictory to me. Has anyone else had experience with the waitlist at U of W? I am very interested in attending, but don't want to upset the school by sending unsolicited material.
What should I do?
