Respond to acceptances?

Got my first acceptance (yay :P) by email. I was wondering if I should respond to the email at all? Or should I just leave it, add it to the list and send in my seat deposit when I decide to attend.

Seems rather unceremonious not to respond. Thoughts?

I had a personal conversation with the director of admissions at a school so when I was accepted I sent her a card, but an email would have been fine as well. I was just thanking her for her time and telling her I was excited about the acceptance. I think its up to you, and if you feel like you want to thank them then I don't see why you shouldn't as long as it's heart felt! If its a school you pretty much know you don't want to go to than it doesn't really matter, but again its up to you.

Don't respond. I can understand why you would think that's appropriate, but admissions doesn't need extra unnecessary e-mails to sort through. Your LOI, or a lack of one, is your response.

def. don't respond

also if they call you to tell you you're admitted (and it's not HYS) try your best not to sound pleased or excited. Thank them politely then be on your way.

Maybe to help negotiate scholarships later. They need you and your money more than you need their law degree. Make them work for it.

You think they take notes on a 30-60 second phone call like that?

It sounds like some people have thought about this way too much. I doubt anyone is saying "this person was too excited so we shouldn't give them any money... make note of that!"

be yourself... I think it will pay off more in the end.

I wouldn't worry so much about the phone call thing, but just really don't send a thank you email that's silly.
