Currently waitlisted as well. Spoke to admissions office and they only recently (maybe around last Wednesday) began looking at the waitlist and developing a plan.

I don't think they have many spots open.

It's only the beginning. Maybe there are limited spots now but there is a chance that more will open up between now and August.

Okay but what about the people who haven't even got a decision the first time around, yet? It seems a tad bit odd when you factor that in

At this point I'm going by what the admissions office has been telling me regarding the waitlist. Factoring in anything else adds unnecessary stress. I'm staying positive about the entire situation irregardless of the outcome and just doing all that I can to make a positive impression. I just wanted to share what I have been told as of now.

Tis true, but it is a bit odd. You can look at it positively and know still that it is odd that some haven't even gotten an initial response yet.

The email basically said we have a few spots open for wl, if your still interested reply by the 8th, which is today.

I'm still waiting for a follow up. I replied a few hours after the email was sent. My status date was updated the next day, but still no movement?

same happened to me. I was updated to 6/5. However, I was waitlisted in May. Goodluck!

It sounds so morbid, when you put it that way.

I think basically it is an email that is asking applicants the university feels is a good fit to come off waitlist, if they still want to attend.

So I'm thinking, for an example, if they have 200 seats open, but 500 waitlist applicants. They will first ask those that are at the top of their wl pile, if they are still interested and weed out milk or meat from there and then do it with the next batch...

This late in the season I would hope for very honest communications. The one that gets an offer knows. The 199 still waiting are left asking questions

Yes I did. I got an email from Ms.Espiritu on last Wednesday and replied positively on the same day. So far there is no change on my status though.
