I wish I could go, but they only reimburse if you matriculate, I think.wijdmba wrote:I'm planning to attend the ASW next weekend. If anyone is interested in splitting a hotel room, please PM me.

Re: University of Iowa c/o 2018 Applicants
That's correct - they will reimburse up to $400 only to those who matriculate in the fall. Hence, it is prudent for those who attend the ASW without being certain they will matriculate to minimize their expenses. I am just a few hours away by car, so it won't be too bad if I can find someone with which to split a hotel roomMs4life wrote:I wish I could go, but they only reimburse if you matriculate, I think.wijdmba wrote:I'm planning to attend the ASW next weekend. In with $15,000 per year. Don't know if it'll be worth it...

Perfect. I was wondering if they did it or if we did it on our own.

So this thread has died down considerably...just wondering if after ASW any of you were convinced to go/not to go? I missed the ASW, but went to tour the school afterwards. I guess I'm just curious what others experiences were.

I likewise missed ASW, but toured separately- I found that it rather convinced me to go there. I sat in on Evidence and many of the students there talked to me about the decision to go to law school and under what circumstances Iowa might make sense (e.g. don't just pick it because law school). I also had a very, very candid tour from one of the student ambassadors. It perhaps crossed the line between formal/informal a few times, but I appreciated the delivery nonetheless as it gave me a good sense of how things work at this specific law school and what student life was like.justabitunusual wrote:So this thread has died down considerably...just wondering if after ASW any of you were convinced to go/not to go? Granted, none of that should matter. I'm a big sucker for the LST information especially with respect to geographic placement. If Iowa, then Iowa.

Re: University of Iowa c/o 2018 Applicants
Yeah that's good to know...the student that was supposed to handle my tour became suddenly unavailable due to a last minute court thing, I think, so I was given the tour by one of the adcoms, and while it was still helpful, it wasn't quite the same as if it had been done by a student. Although, I did get to sit and talk w 2 separate students, so that was helpful. But, you're right if we go to Iowa we have to plan on staying there, it seems.sheboygan! wrote:I likewise missed ASW, but toured separately- I found that it rather convinced me to go there. I got a tour of Iowa this weekend and spoke with admissions...sounds like there's a good chance they won't be moving to the waitlist at all this year. They have 40 or so more people saying they're coming in the Fall than they expected at this point.
