Yay, checking in! NYU does merit fee waivers right?

Yes, I've heard of people getting them. When do y'all think is to early to ask? This is my first choice under harvard so I want to apply early but a little extra money in my pocket is always a good thing.

I think the general consensus is to ask when apps open. Most schools (I think?) are pretty quick about getting back to you, so it shouldn't hold up your application by too long

That's really good to know. I read somewhere that a guy got a fee waiver two hours after submitting to NYU. Don't want to be in that boat.

checking in! Would love to go to NYU. Great options for PI, beautiful facilities (dat entranceway to Vanderbilt Hall), right across from the always-bustling Washington Square Park...Only downside is the ridic COL in the village and immediate area. Even NYU law-subsidized housing clocks in at around $1,400 a month at the cheapest.

Lots of people I know live/d in Brooklyn. It's not a terrible commute...

Seconded. I'm thinking about Astoria or Long Island city (if, of course, this is where I end up)- pretty cheap. The only issue is my (soon to be) husband and I have two dogs and I've heard it's hard to find pet friendly apts in that area of queens. The upside is the N goes directly to NYU.

Checking in. I love Nyu but I am also worried about living in such a large city. If I can get in it will definitely come to COL and if I can find a place for my large dog.

When I've been in the city I do always see alot of large dogs. I just don't know what people are paying to house them. Lol. Isn't there a dog run in Washington square park?

Whenever I look at rental costs I want to cry. Whenever he looks for academic jobs, he looks at the salary and also wants to cry. Oh NYC.
Tell me abt it. My SO will be a nurse come December- of course NYC is the one place in the country saturated with nurses.

Wow! So many of us!

I love how this thread is already turning into a thread about insane NYC real estate. On that note- anyone know much about prospect park?

If I actually get in, this will probably be the reason I don't go.

Also I don't have a big dog yet, but I grew up with german shepherds and I want one soooooo badly. I will be such a great dog parent, one day.
I have a chow/lab now but plan on getting a mastiff when I move out.

I have a boston terrier mix and a pug mix so they are smaller but my challenge is that there are two of them....

This dog run is actually amazing. As a non-dog-owner I come here pretty much every time I visit NYC to dream of someday dog ownership. There's a surprising concentration of large dogs too...
