Does anyone know when the next UCD ASD is? I am in at UCD and Hastings, now I need to visit both to decide.

Log in to their admitted students website (I am too lazy to find a link right now, but just Google "UC Davis Law Admitted Students Website" and use the same info as you used on your status checker). All the info you need should be on there under "events" or something of that nature. Congrats on getting in!

If you want some not-even-close-to-unbiased opinions on UCD vs. UCH, feel free to PM me.

UCD's visit day is April 4th, the same day that I am visiting Hastings. Great.

I guess I will just go for an individual tour.

I'm sure they'd be willing to schedule something for you on another date. It does seem a little silly that UCD and UCH scheduled their events on the same date though. For people deciding between the two schools, I would without question recommend visiting both.

I believe Davis is having an additional event on the 3rd for people who are not able to make it on the 4th. I would call the admissions office to find out more information.

On the note of Hastings v. Davis, as someone who hasn't heard back yet and with numbers that make it likely I could be accepted after both schools receive responses from those already admitted, when are the deadlines to accept/send deposit or withdraw for Hastings and Davis?

Davis- April 15th
Hastings- May 1st

As the seemingly classic Davis v. Hastings candidate, I came away from Hastings' ASD with an attitude of "eh----ok it's do-able," but not at all sold. I've been in some bad areas before, but that is not somewhere I'd ever want to frequent. Walking four blocks in the middle of the day toward Union Square, I felt like I was going to get straight up robbed. I shit you not. There are sketchy looking people (some with bandanas over their faces) posted and huddling on every corner, the wonderfully pungent smells, homeless people, poop in the street, seedy Tijuana-esque stores, and strip clubs if that's your thing. The rest of SF (the other neighborhoods that is), the public transit, the food, etc...were all awesome. Hastings' faculty and students were all great, and their library, reading room, and classes were very nice.

I'm weirded out that they don't give 1L's access to Westlaw or Lexis during the first semester, so that they're "forced to learn the book system."

Also the fact that they made you choose 2/3 presentations during ASD (student panel v. career office presentation v. funding your education) was bullshit as well. I wanted all 3 dammit.

Needless to say. Davis is still very much in the mix.

Just call up the school. Individual tours are readily available for any day of the week and plenty of students are on the volunteer roster.

I came away from Hastings thinking the same thing. However, I have 2 young children. Needless to say i kept them close by on our tour of the area. The UCD ASD has the same thing as Hastings where you have to choose between which presentations you see. However, all the presentations are recorded and posted to the admitted student site so you can hear what you missed. I'm not trying to give a biased view of UCD over Hastings. As far as career ops. are concerned, they are pretty much equal, so anyone choosing one over the other is going to do so (or IMO should do so) based on which one suits them better (or which one give the most $).

in- and I just randomly checked the status checker. I then started doing cartwheels. Primary contenders are now davis or george washington- but definitely leaning towards davis!

And if your still waiting don't worry Davis sometimes takes awhile before they admit there entire class (I was accepted at Davis last year and it was the last school to let me know).

On another note, all of you are more then welcome to schedule a visit to U.C. Davis anytime to sit in on classes and chat it up with students. If you want a personal tour, there are several 1L's that are members of TSL (just look at earlier posts or other threads). I am sure if you PM a person he or she would be happy to give you a tour around.

Davis runs a little slower than most, to be sure, but they'll get back to you eventually. Don't lose hope!
