Did y'all get a confirmation email after you said you wanted to be on the wait list?

No. It's confirmed on the status checker page.

I was confused after filling out the form, because my status checker had not yet reflected my new daytime phone number (I changed positions at work). I had also mailed a hard copy of my LOCI last Monday (4-28-14) with the new contact information. I figured a week was long enough to wait, so I emailed the generic email address for admissions about my new contact information. I am able to confirm a few things. They had yet to receive my letter of continued interest I mailed. Also they explicitly told me not to visit in person. Next I was told it was redundant to email and mail the same information. All that being said, I noticed via my status checker this morning that my new daytime phone number is finally correct. At this point I am thinking no contact is the way to play it out as I am afraid I already have stepped into the annoying category. In my defense I did have am important contact information update and I did want to make sure it was corrected before mid-May. Am I crazy for emailing to confirm my LOCI had been received?
:-/ now I am worried

They told you not to visit? As in, don't follow up on your WL/LOCI in person or don't even come tour the school? I haven't toured yet and I literally just emailed them to set that up. Am I screwed? I don't plan to treat this any differently than my other tours except to maybe drop a mention that it's my first choice. I wouldn't dare ask about my chances of acceptance or attempt a hard sell; that wouldn't be the time or place.

I speak for myself and my situation only, I was pretty bummed by the email response I got. I can say there was a quick response time so that is a positive!

guys dont be bummed at this.
it's finals time, and shortly after the semester is over and I doubt they have tours available in the near future. they also probably don't want you guys to come in to follow up on WL statuses because of their policies.
as for the LOCI letter, we all know USPS is now 99% filled with ineptitude.

Also, on the website it says they stopped having guided visits on April 14th, so maybe that's the reason why they discouraged you from visiting? I doubt it is a reflection upon you or your application.

I had already done a tour in the Fall. I just wanted to go in person to put a face with the name since I live just down the road. I figured if I didn't it would appear as if I was not serious about UNC. If anyone is planning to send in a LOCI, I recommend the electronic approach as you never know if the letter you mailed got there. I read all over that a paper mailed LOCI was best, but now I am regretting following that advice.
Anyone submitting an additional LOR or updated resume? I was not planning on doing either, but it's good to find out what others are thinking.

if they're both positive, it couldn't hurt, could it?

I emailed one after not hearing back for over 3 months (no WL at that point) and got a nice response they were adding it to my file, appreciate my patience and not to hesitate to ask if I had any questions…and then I got wait listed 3 days later, May 1st-ish haha. So I think I'll send one in the next 2 weeks but I don't have anything new to add :/.
Their response seems a bit too unfriendly to you though, they could have just said no more tours available and the office was busy this time of year. Whatever, don't take it personally!!

^ To be fair it is always more difficult to interpret feelings from emails versus in person, which is why I was hoping to stop by and see someone face to face. No worries, it is busy graduation time.
I do have some questions for the group.
1. Does anyone else think this Monday May 12 there will be movement? This time last year several TLS'rs got the news they were accepted off the WL.
2. Do we know if the notification will be via status checker update or by phone call? They emphasized in the WL email they needed our latest contact info so I am thinking it is a calling process. I could not find any concrete answers from the 2016 nor 2015 threads. WDYT?

Looks like three people have gotten in off the WL that have posted on TLS so far. Two were called yesterday, one found out via email today. Not sure how many that means got the offer in total, but those three indicated UNC was their top choice. At least two of them said they had not sent in a LOCI.

There's an LSAC conference this week, so I'm told this may be a quiet one and we shouldn't hold out hope that the next few days will bring good news.

Just checked my email and I'm in!
Sent in housing deposits and bought my flights to my deposited school already, and this really flips the tables. So mad and happy right now...it's going to be an incredibly difficult week deciding.
Anyone know if you have any chance of money at the medians/oos coming off the waitlist?

^ So Jealous
I think the other UNC thread had a comment where someone said the scholly money was running low. Not sure what your chances or anyone's are for getting offered money at this point. I would make the decision without expecting money and then if you do get some that is a bonus on top of the awesomeness of getting into UNC
Good luck deciding!!!

Thank you!!! I just checked my email: 10k per year! Now I think I can't turn this opportunity away. Ugh. 2 days to decide!

Wow that is awesome! This is a "no brainer", choose Carolina!!!
I live in the area and it is beautiful and the school has an excellent reputation so you just can't go wrong if you even feel the slightest bit like it is the right fit for you.

Even though I won't go, it'd still be nice to have a decision
Congrats on the acceptance though!

Thanks! I know the area, it's pretty and I know chapel hill is going to be awesome as a student! ahhh. I'm just worried because I definitely don't want to be in NC after grad. I think the school is just so big and alumni have dispersed everywhere that it should open doors on DC and NYC if that's what I want. I guess most kids just want to stay in state, aren't necessarily forced to because it's a regional school. lol this is just a rant for me to rationalize going. I'll let you guys know.
Thanks Attax!
