Strategies for extension on seat deposit deadline?

I have a seat deposit deadline coming up on Monday of next week. I would like to ask for an extension, and am wondering if anyone on here has done that before or has heard of other people who have been successful in asking for extensions.
The two reasons I want to ask for an extension are (a) I am still waiting to hear back on financial aid offers from two schools and (b) my SO is trying to finalize her plans for next year, which will affect where I go. I'm not sure I'll have all this information back before Monday.
However, I am not sure how persuasive either of these reasons will be for a law school. Regarding (a), it will probably be too late for them to consider any offers I might get late this week (or next) from other schools and offer more themselves, so if I were them I might see no gain in letting me push back the deadline. Regarding (b), that's not something they can control either, so I don't see what is in it for them to give me more time.
Does anyone have any thoughts or advice on this? I'm going to go ahead and ask either way, but before I do I just wanted to see if anyone had thoughts on the best way to frame up the request.
