Hello everyone, just browsing to see if anyone is applying/accepted to Cincinnati and maybe why you chose the school. I am from Tennessee and have been accepted to Cincinnati, Memphis, and still have apps in at UTK, Cumberland, and a few other schools.

Congrats man, I got accepted on 12/19 but have not received my scholarship offer yet. I currently live 3 hours from Cincinnati in Knoxville, TN and have visited numerous times and love the area, thats why I applied, but I am tore between attending Cincy which is #80 or Memphis which is #146 but extremely cheaper at $17k in-state. I am flexible with employment, and really just want to find the best job available.

I'm in waiting for my scholly info in the mail. I'm hoping I can pull over half, if that happens UC will be a real possibility.

Congrats man! Yeah, I got a good scholarship from them which makes COA not bad at all, plus I love the area and would love to work there or around the city. Plus I believe the Cincinnati area has a wealth of opportunities that similarly ranked schools cannot offer. Their LST Score numbers scare me a little, but after talking to the CPD center at the school, touring the school, and then meeting some lawyers downtown, I feel a lot more comfortable. They are definitely very friendly there and I met at least 10 1Ls and 2Ls just while I was there.

Whoo UC. Considering I live in the area and want to practice here (plus hello so cheap) I've been kind of thinking this may be the one to beat. If anyone has questions about the area I'm happy to try to answer them.

I think its ranking and employment score definitely scare a lot of people away, but when you look into the school and the surrounding area, I think its a wonderful place to learn and live. Also, like I said, talking to the people at their CPD center, I feel like they have taken the employment numbers personally and are starting to initiate all kinds of programs and interests in the school again to help improve those numbers. Also, talking to lawyers downtown they all had great things to say, most of them even told me I made the right choice by picking UC over Louisville and Kentucky (for what I want to do, business law, and they were not UC alums). I just loved the friendly, personal feel of the school.
Any recommended neighborhoods to look into? I have been looking for apartments mostly in Hyde Park and Oakley.

Related, I love how small the class size is. For a city that is already full of UC grads I appreciate that the school isn't flooding the area with too many grads.
Mt Lookout is great. There's a bus that runs from near the square to campus (not right by the law school but not too far either) in 20 min. If end up at UC I probably will use that rather than trying to park or paying to park. Clifton is spotty but I have a friend who just bought southwest of campus in a really cool neighborhood. I would live in Over the Rhine in a heartbeat, but again there are good and bad blocks so I wouldn't sign a lease without seeing it in person and making sure you're comfortable with where your car will be parked.

Congrats! Yeah, I am going to make it to one of them, have not decided which date yet though. I'm hoping to get a good feel from the school and also, the rankings/employment scores should be out soon after so I'll be able to make a decision if I want to attend or not.

Does anyone know if there is an accepted students'/ class of 2017 Facebook group/page? I haven't seen one and I think sometimes the admissions people create one.

Current upper-class student. I will take any questions via PM if you have them.
Honestly, it's about as "friendly" as law schools can get. I can't complain.

I really think I'm going to end up at uc. Anybody else think the are going to go here? Also, did anyone else receive an additional scholarship through email today? That just convinced me even more that uc was the right choice.

Was accepted, but it would cost me more than the top 30 schools that have let me in. Scholarship was disappointing when looking at what those schools gave me.

Wish I could but I got a test on the 4th. Anybody know what I'll be missing at the asd? I've already had an individual visit so it can't be much more info. (I hope) I'm planning in sending my seat deposit in sometime this week.

Aww, the UC thread is so sad and lonely! Where is everybody? I got accepted last night. Their new tuition deal for OOS applicants (COA is the next highest after my in state with UNC) and the OIP clinic has me strongly considering. I really wish I could make it to ASD/W but I don't think I can get up there by Friday! I'm totally planning on visiting soon though.
Anybody have an idea of when financial aid/scholarship info comes in after acceptance?
[edit for typo.]

Congrats on the acceptance. I sent in my seat deposit yesterday so i'll be a Bearcat! I went on a visit and liked what I saw. My scholarship came in the mail with my acceptance letter about a week and a half after I was accepted.

Scholarship info came in the mail today. $25,000 spread over three years, so basically buy two, get one free tuition!

Plus a handwritten note on my letter. Maybe everyone gets one, but I'm still impressed. I'm visiting next Friday (after Case Western, Chicago-Kent, and Loyola earlier in the week), including a meeting with an OIP fellow. UC has worked its way into serious consideration. Can't wait to see what Cincinnati is like!

I will probably be attending UC in the Fall as well, I am between Cincinnati and Tennessee. I live in between both schools, but I want to do business law so the opportunities are a lot better in Cincy then Knoxville. I visited earlier in the year and although the law school building is older I loved the feel of it and the personality of the students and faculty. The friendly atmosphere is no joke, I met about 10 students, went to eat with a few of them and the dean of admissions. Also, the employment numbers may not be the best, but you get what you work for so I am willingly to take my chances, especially with the cost I will be paying. If anybody has any question that could not visit or make a trip up yet I will try my best to answer.

Just withdrew and put that $25k back in the pot. I got a great feeling while on that campus and the OIP students who lead my tour were wonderful. In the end, Wake Forest gave me a very large scholarship and I'm riding a few waitlists as well. Best of luck to everyone matriculating!
[edit] The last few days have been interesting. Shortly after posting here, they emailed me asking what they could do to stay in consideration. They upped my total scholarship by $20k and gave me a named (1L only) scholarship. Not quite enough to beat out Wake for me, however. Just wanted to let you all know there's money out there.
