Just submitted my Early Decision application last night. From previous years, it seems most Early Decision applications will be done by mid-December. Good luck to all!

Anybody know when ED decisions start to go out?

The email from them says early decisions have priority with decisions by mid january, and regular decisions by mid-april. The status checker has a message saying no applications will be reviewed until after the office reopens after the holidays. I don't know if I would hold my breath for a decision before then, but who knows.

Based on LSN, it looks like most of the people who applied early heard back first week of December.

I like the sound of that. Do you know if it was ED applicants or RD as well?

Almost certainly ED applicants.

I wonder if TxTech has a lock on the Amarillo job market? I bet it does.

Not sure if that was meant as a shot at the Law School...

No, not at all. Amarillo is a large city, albeit a rather isolated one, with much milder summers than most of the state. I wouldn't mind taking a job there in the least. I was simply wondering out loud whether Tx Tech grads largely fill the open law jobs there because of the proximity.

Oh, I understand. I could definitely see that happening.

By the way, I received my Bachelor's from Texas Tech and would be happy to answer any general questions about being a student at the school or Lubbock!

I would love for TX Tech to make the first round of decisions sooner rather than later. Other Tx Law schools have begun making theirs.

Unless you applied ED I don't think you'll hear anything until December or even January.

If by "lock," you mean that more attorneys practicing in Amarillo graduated from Texas Tech than any other law school, then yes.

A friend of mine at Tech Law School now received her decision the day before Thanksgiving. She did Early Decision.

I usually stay out of the Texas Tech applicant threads unless there are specific questions for me, but to clear up some apparent confusion...

When we say that you decisions will be made "by" a certain date, that's the latest any single individual might get a decision. We make decisions on a rolling basis starting about now and continue going out until we're done.

So, for example, a handful of EDs usually get decisions before Thanksgiving, most of the rest of the EDs and some RDs usually find out before the Christmas break, and the remaining EDs will get decisions before about the 2nd week in January. I think last year something like 80% of EDs had decisions before the winter break. That's not a promise, of course, things vary from year to year. I just see a lot of folks every year interpret the "all decisions made by X date" to mean "won't get a decision UNTIL X date" so I wanted to clear that up.

Could y'all indicate if you applied ED please?

ETA: Also what was your status? Mine still says "complete, ready for review"

Didn't realize I did, but yes.

Also, my app went from ready for review to under review to accepted.

I guess while I'm breaking my own rules...

There are a lot of various statues, but most are self explanatory (e.g. Missing LORs, etc.). Below are the milestone statuses in the order that they usually happen.

Common Status Categories in Typical Order of Occurrence:
  • Application Received - The app has been downloaded from LSAC, but no one has looked at it yet to make sure we have it and your LSAC report.
File Incomplete - Someone has looked over the app to make sure it has all the required stuff, we just don't have your LSAC report.
    File Complete-Ready for Review
    File In Review
Decision (Status will specify Accepted, Denied, etc.)
