I'm sticking with my 162 / 3.4.

No, which is why I'm not checking in as an applicant in this thread

My numbers are at/above their 75ths but they only gave me a need based waiver request form. I'm not sure that they do merit based waivers.

Same thing happened to me (we have similar numbers too) I went ahead and applied anyway. I know that app fees are high, but the way I see it, even if you decide it isn't the school for you, you don't want to wonder what if. Not to mention it can only help to have more offers in hand with scholarship negotiations.

I hear ya. I just didn't apply because 13/14 of my other top choices gave me waivers, so I didn't see the sense in applying with so many other options (Houston was maybe top 10 or 15 for me, but not top 3 or something). Plus, SMU gave me a waiver

Checking in! Got a waiver, but would apply regardless since my tuition is covered.

Was it merit based? Solicited or unsolicited? If merit, what are your numbers? I tried a few months ago but it didn't work.

Does anyone know that if you are an out-state student and you got the Dean's scholarship, do they only give you a in-state tuition waiver, or possibly will give you something else on top of that? thanks. just submitted my application..

Yeah, that's not much but remember, Houston's tuition is less than half of SMU and Baylor's (assuming you're a TX resident). So $2,000 at Houston makes it $18,000 a year where you'd need $26,000 a year at SMU or Baylor to pay the same price.

Edit: I just looked up SMU's estimated tuition for next year and I didn't realize how damn expensive it is! $48,803! So I take back what I said earlier. You actually need a $31,000/year scholarship from SMU/Baylor to pay the same price as Houston. It also looks like Houston hasn't raised their tuition of $19,059 since 2010.

Unless I just looked at it wrong, I think you looked at only one semester. Looks like tuition is 29 for Res and 39 non-res.

Exactly....I was like what their tuition is 19k...? So as an international student...I'm leaning towards SMU now, I will need an instate tuition waiver plus 5000 to get tuition from Houston on par with SMU.

Sure hope that's the case. Mine went under review today, too.

Maybe Houston will pull an SMU and release its first batch of decisions earlier than it did last cycle.
