Top Law Schools

Anyone else applying? I'm in the area already and want to stay in Virginia, so WM is a contender. It looks like people started hearing back around this time last year. The last thing I can find for myself on the status checker is "application is complete."

The e-mail I received from them this week said my application is complete but also said this:

"Please note, the majority of decisions will be finalized and sent out after our March 1, 2014 application deadline."

After March? Is that true? From what I can tell, I should have most of my decisions in the Dec-Feb time frame - March seems pretty late to be handing out the majority of decisions. Maybe they're telling me this because I don't have auto-admit numbers or something.

They said this two years ago as well, but started sending acceptances by November.

It seems like pretty standard language for a lot of schools, presumably so you don't start bothering the admissions office too early. Looking at last year's thread, people started getting admitted in October.

Oh, cool. Good to know. I figured it was a tactic along those lines, but was still much later than all the other schools who presumably use the same tactic.

My email didn't say that message, only that it is complete. Should I be worried?

I don't think so. If anything, I'd think it implies that they may give you a decision earlier. But it probably means nothing significant.

I was one of the first people to apply probably (the day apps opened up, so maybe it means that. But most likely it's nothing - like you said. Last year, decisions first came out on October 5, 2012, so some of us should be hearing back pretty soon - I anticipate this week.

I also applied super early (I think I went complete on 3 September) and I have that message too. I think it's just standard. I'm a little bit of a splitter for WM but according to LSN, should be an auto-admit, so I'm hopeful for this week.

Also, does everyone else have stuff in the requirements box in the lower right, like student photo, seat deposit, health form, etc.

I don't have anything in my requirements box, but it seems that you are probably in if you have info about STUDENT PHOTO and SEAT DEPOSIT

Last week it just said "File is complete"

Also, under 'Requirements List', I now have 4 unchecked boxes for:
Seat Deposit Received
Official UG Transcript Received
Health Form
Photo

I submitted 9/11. Up until this morning it didn't give any status and now it says File is Incomplete. I know they have all of my stuff since I had everything together by Sept 1. Is it appropriate to email their office and ask what's up?

I wouldn't freak out yet. We have no idea whether the four unchecked boxes means anything

I called the admissions office today.

1) The requirements box does not mean anything.
2) They are behind on admission decisions this year so we may not be expecting decisions so soon. The lady said they didn't even order the admission packet stuff that admitted students would get in the mail yet. She said to expect the first batch of decisions to come out the last week of October. It could be sooner, but they haven't made any decisions yet.

Lame. Glad you called though. I would have been getting antsy otherwise.

Yeah, thanks for calling to find out. I wasn't expecting a decision any time soon, so knowing that they're looking at the first round in October is encouraging to me.

Applied a few days ago. Status is incomplete but I'm pretty sure that its waiting on my October LSAT score from last weekend. W&M is my top choice so I hope we're not waiting til March for admission decisions.

I will be applying to W&M this cycle. Haven't submitted the application yet though. Happy that they sent a FW!

If W&M's 2013-14 cycle is anything like last year's, they'll auto-admit or you won't hear until late March/early April.
