Cool, thanks. Asking because I'm hoping to see movement off the WL.

WL here too. Just below median for LSAT and GPA, but didn't get completed application until a month ago. Thanks to all you folks withdrawing from the waitlist. For a May 1 deposit deadline does that mean that there might be some movement around then? Waitlist QA says bi-monthly updates, so I was expecting nothing until June.
Also, curious about scholly money. Anyone close to median get any decent offers from W&M?

165 LSAT
Tried negotiating for more and received what appears to be the standard "you're on the list for consideration for an increase in merit aid" email.

How personal of an email did you send? I increased my scholarship 150% by sending a long thought out email. Also, unlike many other schools, W&M seems to value GPA and academic achievement more than LSAT.Attax wrote:$8,000/year. 168, GPA below medianTheLawrax wrote:WL here too. Just called to ask about the waitlist. There's over 1000 ppl on the waitlist this year, so I asked how many ppl got in off the WL last year--they said 2.

They over-booked last year (and gave out more aid than they budgeted), it's a fact supported by the class numbers - take a look at their comparative class sizes; 18x or 19x every year before the entering class of 2013, which has about 220.TheLawrax wrote:Just called to ask about the waitlist. I've got it on good authority that they're looking to keep the graduating class of 2017 at around 180 students.

Guess I'll be calling them May 1st to ask how many ppl have already confirmed their seats then...
That does make a bit more sense though--she also said that the year before, they admitted a few dozen off the waitlist.

Just thought I'd throw it out there that I received an unsolicited $$ bump the other day, completely unanticipated.

When did you send your negotiation email?Eaturgreenz wrote:I asked for more money and got an extra 5k per year. I've noticed that state schools tend to be less flexible with renegotiation for scholarship. However, you may have better luck since the first deadline for intent has already passed and a large number of people are withdrawing.

Re: William and Mary c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I sent my email several weeks ago. While I did receive the standard "we will consider you for an increase when more scholarship becomes available" email, I was contacted that same day via phone call. I have found that when I have been specific and honest in my scholarship reconsideration emails, I have had positive feedback. I hope this helps and I hope to see you all at W&M in the fall.
