Application Deadlines
Georgetown Law accepts J.D. Regular and Early Decision applications to begin in the fall only. Applicants may apply Regular Decision or Early Decision (Binding).

Georgetown Law is not currently accepting applications for Fall 2013 admission. We will begin accepting applications for Fall 2013 admission on September 15, 2012. Because of the large number of applications we receive and our rolling admissions system, it is to your advantage to complete your application as early as possible in the application cycle. Please note that applications will not be reviewed unless all required documentation has been received (please see application requirements).

Application Deadlines for Fall 2013 Admission

September 15, 2012: First day J.D. Regular and Early Decision applications accepted for Fall 2013
March 1, 2013: J.D. Regular and Early Decision Deadline
Please refer to the left-hand navigation for more information about the Early Decision Timeline and Regular Decision Timeline.

Application Requirements:
Applicants to the J.D. Full-Time Division, Part-Time Division or Both must submit the following:

- Application Form;
- Application Fee (unless waived);
- Resume;
- Transcript from each college or university attended;
- LSAT from or after June 2008;
- One letter of recommendation or evaluation;

Applicants to the J.D. Full-Time Division, Part-Time Division or Both may also submit the following:

- ONE of five optional responses
Georgetown Law Admissions Twitter: http://twitter.com/gtownlawadmis

Part-time Program:
Is the part-time degree the same as the full-time degree?

Yes. Aside from the number of credits and time of the courses (evening), part-time students receive the same opportunities to pursue clinics, journals and moot court.

Are the professors who teach part-time courses the same as those that teach full-time?

Yes. Full-time faculty rotate and teach both full-time and part-time courses.

Is it harder to schedule all the classes you want to take because the offerings are more limited in the evening?

No. Generally, Georgetown tries to offer the same courses during the day and evening.

Do prospective employers favor full-time students over part-time students?

No. Employers do not distinguish between full-time and part-time students. However, fewer part-time students elect to participate in the summer associate program because of their work commitments.

May part-time students participate in journals, moot court and clinics?

Yes. All Georgetown Law J.D. students are eligible.

May I transfer to the full-time program?

Students will be permitted to transfer from the part-time to the full-time program only in cases of a demonstrated significant change in circumstances. Under the current policy, the ability to switch programs once you start is by no means guaranteed and is determined on a case-by-case basis. Please see the Georgetown Law Bulletin for additional information.

The Status-Checker Journey

RECEIVE status checker
-----INCOMPLETE
COMPLETE
RECEIVE SMALL ENVELOPE IN MAIL

After this, you will typically have several "updates," where the date will change, but not status. The status checker says that this normally means nothing, but a lot of people receive an interview request (if applicable) after the second update, and an acceptance after the third. Decisions are sent by mail in a small envelope.

Apologies in advance for the lazy quoting, but I haven't seen this thread up yet.

Please add some pictures or other relevant information if you want, otherwise checking in! :mrgreen:

I was wondering why this thread didn't exist (or if it does, why I hadn't seen it). Looks like Georgetown may be in for a bleak application season, when it comes to TLS applicants.

Anyway: checking in. App submitted.

Checking in. They denied my merit waiver request, so app will be sent as soon as I'm not poor.

G'town is my Hail Mary pass. Accidentally checked "Apply ED" on LSAC, so ... we'll see.

So request a need-based waiver. It's a detailed questionnaire.

Anyone going to the group interview thing in New York next Thursday? I am planning on attending (kind of sucks it's in the middle of the work day, though).

Is being invited to a group interview a good sign?

I'm no expert, but it's clearly not a bad sign

There are conjectures for the purposes of interviews, some being for YP or borderline candidates, or just a plain requirement for admissions (as in Harvard). I'm not sure what group interviews mean for GULC. It's certainly not required.

Last year I know that several people who were group interviewed were pulled off the waitlist.

Also got invited to interview, but can't make it to either of them because of work.

How long did it take from your application date for them to request an interview with you?

#1 right here. Haven't taken the LSAT and unfortunately (or fortunately) won't be taking it til December, but working with a 3.7 gpa out of WUSTL and what I think is a pretty good soft. Hopefully my LSAT will be on par. Cheers ya'll.

Two weeks. May have just been because I'm in the area.
