Duke was really up there for me so it's definitely disappointing. I'm sure it's been asked a million times, but what are the best ways to increase your chances off Duke's WL? It sounds like a Why Duke or LOCI is the way to go, but anything other than those?

Thanks for your help and gl to all!

When did you apply?
Mid-January. UR1 2/17, UR2 3/14, WL 3/19

Agreed, everyone currently waiting for a decision or placed on the PR List/WL should definitely follow suit.

I've so far haven't heard anything from the T14 minus this and an interview request from Georgetown. Applied early-January after retaking a 167 October LSAT.
I know this isn't really the forum for this but are these numbers really that bad where the whole T14 is like "um, no thanks"?
Need some TLS wisdom to figure out what is going on trend-wise in this cycle.
I don't think they will all say "ew" to you, lol. Some schools are more splitter/reverse-splitter friendly than others. For example, my friend had a 163 and 3.85 from a top 10. He got into Northwestern :D He is not a URM. He's a Caucasian male without any socioeconomic disadvantage (note- that being said, he is paying sticker price).

I do believe that a moving personal statement, great softs, and/or having a specific "hard" major (such as premed, engineering, physics, etc) can make a difference at some T14s. Flipping through LSN, a female chemical engineering major from a top 20 school w/a 3.2 GPA, 165 LSAT, and strong softs made it into Berkeley and a 2 other T14 schools. There are a few others like her from this cycle. She stated that in her case, her major and softs likely made the difference.

Do you feel you have a particularly moving statement or strong softs?

I remember seen someone has asked this question, but I cannot find its answer.
I got a decision from Duke that indicated my eligibility for scholarship assistance, and awarded me a Duke Law Scholarship of $$$$$. It did not say it was merit or needed based, as I have applied for both. Does anyone know if this Is merit based only and I may qualify for needed based ln another letter?
168/3.93 w/ good soft
Thanks

If you have been UR twice, does that mean anything in particular?

I was a professional actor and then started and ran my own theatre company for 2 years. PS basically was in the "I'm going to use my degree to affect change" sort of attitude. I felt like the PS was strong but I don't really know what qualifies as a "strong soft" so I don't know how that looked on my resume. Sent in a LOCI earlier this week. In it until at least the summer.

I finally just got my date updated again today. I guess Duke does indeed do UR3.

If anyone is wondering, I went complete in the middle of January and UR2 in the middle of February.

UR 2 today, about a month after my first UR.

Question: In general, has Duke been fairly fast about giving a decision after UR2? It seems so based on some of the people who recently posted, but I'm not sure if that's a trend?
Most people are going UR1 -> UR2 -> Decision, right? I saw that a few people had UR3, so I am double checking what the norm seems to be.

Hi, I'm new to TLS. Duke is a big time, hail mary reach for me, but I live about 20 minutes away and said screw it, why not try. Go big or go home, right? I got a WL from UWash so I'm totally expecting a ding (maybe WL b/c of my work experience and references) from Duke, but of course that doesn't remove any of the compulsive email refreshing and status checking.

I went complete 3/3 (only took the Feb LSAT; 164) and UR since 3/17. Today the status date changed (still UR) and the message at the top of the screen changed to "We appreciate your continued interest in Duke Law School."

Is this a sign of news on the way or am I part of what appears to be a batch of UR2? Thanks!

Does anyone know when Duke tends to start looking at PR applicants?

I'm above both 75ths but still interested due to ties to the area (put on PR after PT late Jan btw)

We have the exact same dates. Did the message change at the top of your screen? Mine used to have something about decisions by the end of April and now it says "We appreciate your continued interest in Duke Law School." I'd appreciate it if you'd post any more updates so I can compare!
