New Binding Early Decision Details

Applicant Checklist:
Cornell wrote:
 • A complete application
 • Law School report from LSAC (with transcripts, LSAT scores, and two letters of recommendation)
 • Personal statement (2 pages, double spaced, no less than 11 point font)
 • Diversity essay (optional)
 • Up to 2 LSAC evaluations (optional)
 • Completed dean's certification/recommendation form (if required) - please see the application instructions for details
 • Application fee ($80)
Fee Waivers:
Cornell wrote:We will consider a need-based waiver of the fee upon receipt of the following information:

If you are a registered student, a copy of your most recent financial aid award notice showing both budget and award
If you are not a student, a letter detailing your financial situation (e.g. employment, assets, etc.)

If you were granted a fee waiver from LSAC, the fee will be automatically waived when you apply using the LSAC electronic application.

Fee waivers are generally granted only to those extremely needy applicants who would not otherwise be able to apply to the Cornell Law School.

We will consider your request for a merit-based fee waiver if you are registered with the LSAC Candidate Referral Service. Should you be selected to receive an application fee waiver from us, you will receive an email and letter in the mail and the fee will be waived in advance for you in the LSAC system. If you receive a fee waiver from us after you apply, please follow the reimbursement procedures on the back of the fee waiver letter.

If you were or currently are a participant of Teach for America, please email us a copy of a letter verifying your participation.

Status Checker Translation:
 • Verifying Materials for Completion: Initial status.

 • Reserve: Basically a waitlist. See below for dates of expected activity.
 • Waitlist: The super-waitlist at the end of the summer.
 • Accepted: Congratulations.

What Are My Chances? Who are you, Lavitz?
I'm going to be a 1L at Cornell this year. I'll be hanging around this thread with you and updating the OP when necessary. Feel free to ask me any questions. Good luck and I hope to see you in Ithaca!

Yes, if you look at Cornell's apps currently available on LSAC, you'll see they have both a regular application an "Early Decision Round 1" application. I still haven't found any other information about it on the website.

Woah, making a c/o thread after already being accepted? This is madness.

A9: I'm a 1L at HLS. I was an LSAT teacher for five years before entering law school. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about HLS or anything by PM.

Checking in, but no EA now? I absolutely love Cornell and would like a chance for an early acceptance, but I don't want to commit early in the cycle. Also, does this mean 2017 apps have been released?

I don't know whether or not they're keeping EA alongside ED. App will be released on August 15th.

Checking in. Ithaca isn't my first choice, but, I certainly wouldn't mind spending 3 years there.

The more I think about it, the more attractive Cornell is becoming (only interested in NYC biglaw). Also if there actually is going to be an ED option, I'll be heavily considering it if I get below a 169 in October.
