Tier 4 School or wait?

Hello,

So I applied to probably 15 schools. So far, I've received two acceptances. One to Charlotte Law School through their AAMPLE program and to thomas cooley School of Law.

I received so many rejections as a result of my LSAT scores. I took it twice this year and scored a 137 both times and had took a prep class both times (not making excuses but I have always tested low on standardized tests). I'm very determined and will not take no for an answer to law school in general.

I've been reading about thomas cooley School of Law's not so great reputation. Reading about it makes me nervous to attend.

Charlotte School of Law is stating that I would need to complete the AAMPLE program (which is taking two classes and trying to score above the required GPA they state) to be able to attend ACTUAL classes in the Spring. This would set me back a year as I would attend for the Spring and Fall and would hope to transfer to Fordham for Fall 2015. Ultimately, I would like to transfer to Fordham as it is my top choice. This program also is $500 and lasts from the beginning of September to the end of October.

I'm not sure what to do or where to go.

Help please? :D

About how many hours have you studied for the LSAT? How many prep tests have you taken and gone over for both of your sittings? Whatever you do don't enroll in those schools you are currently considering. Those schools will likely ruin your life.

But should I attend this school even though its a Tier 4 and has a bad rep? I guess they've been sued by students because they weren't able to transfer.

I took the Kaplan Online class that met on the weekends from 10-5 on Saturdays and Sundays. During the week, I put in about 2-3 hours per night. Are there any prep courses you might recommend?

You should take no for an answer.

Kaplan is horrible. You should burn all of their materials (seriously). I took the Powerscore course. It was worth the money. You should do the following: Powerscore or Manhattan Course + PS or Manhattan prep materials (LG, RC and LR books). It is very important that you are familiar with both company's prep materials, because they approach the different sections in different ways. By reading both companies' materials, you can pick and choose the strategies that work for you. You need to mix and match what works for YOU.

Due to your very low scores, you are probably going to need about 500 hours of prep time to get to a respectable score. If you haven't done 300+ hours of studying, you aren't anywhere close to having studied enough for the test.

I definitely agree Kaplan didn't help at all. Before I took the course, I scored a 134 on the diagnostic exam. Should I defer the acceptances and just retry to take the LSAT?

Is it true that you can take the LSAT three times within two years?

You can take it 3 times within 2 years. You probably shouldn't be looking to retake until like June of next year. You are going to need significant time to learn the LSAT well enough to get a respectable score. At the end of the day, all you can do is try your best and move on with your life. Only you know how hard you have tried for this test. Your goal should be to max out your potential.

I've now come across this poster in two threads now. This is a troll, right?

Lloyd Christmas in the middle of a stroke could do better than a 137.

There is such a thing as a Tier 4? Isn't it T1=top 50 > T2=top 100 > TTT? Are the schools even ranked beyond 100?

I don't know if your being serious, but there are a little over 200 accredited law schools I think.

At least 60% of law schools should shut down

I know there are that many, but are they ranked as such? As in, could you point out the 158th top school? lol

Because they can't believe someone would either be so stupid or so ill-informed that this question would even need to be asked.

edit: PS the Cooley rankings are not TCR

They rank top 150. The three Minnesota ttts are always battling it out for third tier supremacy

Basically, these peeps think you are "trolling" them due to you asking if you should attend one of the worst law schools in the country. Obviously these schools exist because they do, in fact, get hundreds of people to enroll at them every year. I don't think you are a troll. Spend some time at http://www.lawschooltransparency.com and then come back to TLS with additional questions. At the end of the day, the vast majority of law schools aren't worth attending.

I still believe this to be a troll.

If you really did get a 137, and did not suffer an aneurysm in the middle of both exams, don't go to law school. You should probably consider a helmet and crayons instead.

Also, there are great opportunities for people with your intellectual capabilities to be congresswomen from Minnesota.

1. Derailing a thread by calling someone a troll/flame for seeking out legitimate advice will get you a timeout. Nothing in the OP really screams troll to me.
2. A post being "rude" is not a reason to report a post.
