Congrats:)

If I were you, though, I'd strongly consider waiting until next cycle. You'll probably receive more money (and maybe a free ride at a place like GW), and have better opportunities, i.e. mid-high T14 schools. On the other hand, if you just want to start this year and have little else to do, then perhaps starting this year is the better option.

Thanks! Just curious, what prompted you to withdraw--a better offer, perhaps? As a Georgetown devotee, I could scarcely imagine rejecting an opportunity to study there.

jusman26 wrote:Hey All,

I've been on the Regular WL for Georgetown since the beginning and have received all the emails. I had a 3.6 166. A few questions to anyone who might know more than I do:

#1: I just retook the LSAT (2nd time taking it) on June 10th and received a 169 today. I immediately emailed Georgetown and let them know about my new LSAT score. Does anyone know if this might help me? Do they count a new LSAT score like this for people already on the WL? I don't see why they wouldn't, but it's worth asking. Also if someone knows how to officially send this new score in from LSAC that would be great too. I plan on calling LSAC tomorrow to inquire.

#2: Preface: This isn't meant to be an elitest question (though I guess this website is called Top-Law Schools, so everyone is probably ok with it). I see that the law schools obviously place a huge emphasis on GPA and LSAT scores when making admit decisions. I also see these stats on US News rankings etc. Do law schools also take into consideration where you went for undergrad? For example (and no I didn't actually go to Harvard), if someone had a 3.55 from Harvard undergrad, would someone from Southeastern Alabama State who had a 3.8 have a better shot at getting into law school?

Thanks everyone and good luck!!
I would email every law school that you got rejected from but still wish to attend. I would also email a law school even if u didnt intially apply but now want to attend. Almost every school will reconsider you in light of your new LSAT. Especially Michigan which was asking ppl who withdrew what they could do to make them come. This idea should give you more acceptances and scholarships. If Georgetown is your dream school you can use the scholarships as leverage. Also regardless of what u told Georgetown don't feel obligated to go. The only binding application where u must attend is early decision. Even if u told them it was your first choice, as now with ur numbers maybe Penn is your first choice or whatever school u want. The 2012 threads show numerous people doing this successfully last July.

Still waiting... Day 2..

Are there any other deadlines coming up that could affect waitlist movement?

Thanks to everyone who responded to my earlier message about the improved LSAT score.

Thanks ESPECIALLY to the guy who told me to let all of the schools who rejected me know about my new score. Within 40 minutes of sending my score to the schools that rejected me, Duke responded and gave me an acceptance! The long and painful journey of applying, rejections, waitlists, followup emails, taking the LSAT twice etc is over!

Coming from the most cynical person in existence: THERE IS HOPE!!!

Good luck everyone. PM me if you have an questions or suggestions.

That's amazing! Congrats!

Question- on days we are supposed to receive "updates," do people generally receive offers of admission those days as well?

Received the July "update" as of several minutes past. Nothing remarkable. Anyone else with me?

Now that it’s early July, as promised I wanted to send you another quick e-mail update on the waitlist situation at Georgetown. Our class is still currently oversubscribed, but these things do sometimes have a way of changing quickly. We’re monitoring the class on a daily basis and we’re still hopeful that we will be able to contact you with good news in the near future.

While we hope that you can continue to stay with us on the waitlist, we understand if you need to make other plans. For our part, we promise to keep you up to date on what’s going on. As I mentioned before, our next upcoming deadline is July 29th when the tuition payment is due for the current entering class. We promise you another update by August 2nd, if you haven’t heard from us before then.

If spaces do become available, the Committee will move quickly. They have asked me to ask you to let us know if you wish to remain in consideration and where Georgetown fits in with your plans. Please respond to this email at as soon as possible at admis@law.georgetown.edu.

As always, we thank you for all of your patience with this process.

Best,

Andy
