Poll Round 2: Loyola L.A. w/$30k/yr or UC Davis w/$15k/yr

It's a hypo (Loyola is on the table, Davis is anticipated).
What would you do?
Davis ranks higher and shows better for post grad stats. Scholly/aid will likely be smaller, but probably won't come with stips.
Loyola has a strong presence in the SoCal region, which is where I want to end up, and will likely be cheaper. Scholly at Loyola comes with the notorious 3.2 stip.

Davis. The extra 15k per year from Loyola is nice..but it's not enough to offset the significantly poorer job prospects. Also there's no guarantee that you'll keep it (not questioning your ability but it does come with stips). You don't wanna be in a situation where you go to the lower-ranked, less-promising school..and then end up losing your scholly anyway. Loyola may be in socal..but honestly it's location probably won't give you any advantages because it's so low-ranked unless you finish in like the top 5-10% or something. I think Davis would give you a healthier mix of options and I imagine Davis does okay in Socal just by virtue of being a Cali school (I'm from the NE, so i'm just spitballing here)

I would say Davis if you would be ok with NorCal. LLS if you want SoCal.
Retake if you want better options/better $$$ at your current choices. A june retake wouldn't be a bad idea (you could accept one of these offers and ask for more money or reapply next cycle if you score significantly better)

A June re-take is on the agenda, for those very reasons you mentioned.

not sure about the employment stats in general, but i know both schools place roughly 10% in biglaw, so you're not losing much. if you want socal, there's not really a clear option. might go with loyola, actually.

The advantage of loyola if you want SoCal would be the much larger alumni network in SoCal (how large that advantage is...idk)

Loyola is going to place you in a class with a bunch of scholly students and odds will be against you in keeping such a scholly.

+1
Section stacking is pretty common among schools that have stips attached to their schollies

Is Loyola known to section stack? If so, then I'd go with Davis but only if you are ok staying in NorCal

Same debate, same scholarship numbers! I'm leaning Davis for a variety of reasons though. I will head out for ASW in April, then make a final decision. Feel free to PM if you wanna chat more.
