I love the campus. It's small and cozy.

Actually, leaning towards U of H. I know a lot of lawyers, STCL grads included, and most say go to U of H. STCL looks a lot better than U of H. I am waiting on scholarship information before making a decision though. It appears that STCL will actually be cheaper than U of H but all things being equal it seems to make more sense to go to the higher ranked school given the option. Here in Houston both have great reputations, so I am weighing everything (COST, impact on family, time, ranking).

It's really unlikely that it makes a 'substantial' difference. One assumes you plan to stay in Houston, otherwise you'd be going to a different school. It also depends on your goals after school is finished as well, I guess.

IMHO, If you can get into U of H: go. It's true that the decision does depend on your goals but who really has those all mapped out prior to law school? If you want to work at an AM100 firm they won't even look at you if you are outside of the top 5% at STCL. It's top 15-20% at U of H. Even if you don't want to go big law, an education from a higher ranked law school will land you more interviews if you fall outside of the top 15-20% range.

Good points... I don't plan on leaving the Houston area or doing big law but you never know what may change later in life. I am 90 percent sure I will go to UH. Right now 70% of tuition and fees are paid for at either school (post 9/11), so I was just trying to see if I could work on getting the other 30%.

Anyone going to any of the admitted student receptions or alumni mixers? I'm probably going to the April 13th and March 28th events.

Unfortunately no. I'm in Austin in all of those dates, so I can't go. But it sounds interesting. Can those of y'all that go let us know anything important that they say please? :)

I plan on going to the April 11 and April 13 events. Unfortunately I'm out of town on March 28.

Haha yeah but I'm originally from Houston. My family's there and I've lived there all my life so I just wanted to go back. Plus UT probably wouldn't take me. They've taken me once, but I think that's about it hah.

Received my scholarship email today. Anybody else get their email and plan on attempting to negotiate?

Saw on LSN that a couple of people received scholly offers today. God I hope that they didn't release all of them today cause that would suck.

It's under mailings for me on the left. It says "Scholarship info sent" then has the date

Hmm, I wonder if they send you a 'scholarship info' that says you get no scholarship?

Guess we wont be getting any scholarship updates this week, STCL closed Thursday and Friday for Spring Break. :(

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
