Well we're pretty close numbers-wise. Same LSAT and my GPA is a little lower than yours, so hoping for positive outcomes here, but we will see. Best of luck to us both!landisjc wrote:
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that is the case. Otherwise, the website says that they expect to have final decisions completed by April 15, so I guess it's possible to stay "in review" past the accepted student day. My LSAT was 150 and my GPA was a 3.8.

The general practice from what I understand is to give OOS students a tuition waiver. If your LSAT/GPA is considerably above, they may do that and a scholarship. Last year, scholly info went out late March/early April. That has to do with budgets.Lawdog12355 wrote:I really wish I knew if I were getting an OOS tuition waiver or merit scholarship, anybody that just received word of acceptance have any input/information on that subject?
The cool thing about USC is that they don't do stips with their scholarships, so keep that in mind. There may be a bit less money, but they're more honest with it.
Good luck to everyone in this thread! I don't regret coming here at all.

I hope they're as generous as you say with the OOS tuition waiver, that would really help out a ton, anybody received word yet?

My acceptance letter said to expect scholarship information to be released mid-March. Hopefully we hear something within the next couple of weeks. Is anyone attending Accepted Students Day on Saturday, March 23rd?Lawdog12355 wrote:I hope they're as generous as you say with the OOS tuition waiver, that would really help out a ton, anybody received word yet?

I had a 3/8 decision letter mailed, but when it arrived it was dated 3/11 on the acceptance letter...however, I got the email about the ASD a day or two before the status was decision letter mailed...

Got the scholarship letter today. Out of state waiver and 6000 scholarship per year. No less than $26000 value per year. Not enough. Probably will withdraw tomorrow

Congrats on the offer (and the other ones as well!). Just one thing I wanna point point about South Carolina scholarships: there are no stips. They do offer less, but it's guaranteed money.hankb334 wrote:Got the scholarship letter today. Out of state waiver and 6000 scholarship per year. No less than $26000 value per year. Not enough. Has anyone in-state received scholarship info? It seems like all of the scholarships are for OOS students.

I like Columbia and SC was high on my list, it just doesnt make since with better offers from higher ranked schools on the table. I was a little suprised at Carolina's offer. Maybe I can bargain with them some. Good luck to everyoneScotusnerd wrote:Congrats on the offer (and the other ones as well!). Re: University of South Carolina c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I registered for ASD this weekend so I'm going to check it out. I still have no idea if I'm even going to attend law school at all at this point. I want to be a lawyer, but I'm terrified of giving up my well paying secure job for the glimpse of hope I'll find a job and actually make a decent living as a lawyer. I really don't have intentions of going big law and I have great ties with attorneys in my home state (which is also in the southeast), it's just a big risk to take on the debt in addition to the opportunity cost of giving up a good job. I've got some big decisions coming up in the next few weeks...I've been chasing this idea of law school for too long and if I don't go this year I'm going to hang the dream up for good and bide my time until I have the opportunity to head to B-school in a few years.

South Carolina is seriously delusional. $4000/year for in-state, 75% medians for both GPA and LSAT. That's a fucking joke.
I wasn't seriously considering attending SC Law, but now I won't take South Carolina seriously at all.

That's crazy! I got $10k off instate tuition and my numbers were above 75%. If you really want to go I'd ask for more money.WaltWhite wrote:South Carolina is seriously delusional. $4000/year for in-state, 75% medians for both GPA and LSAT. That's a fucking joke.

I went to USC for undergrad and just graduate. (I got accepted to USC law but won't be attending). I lived in Cornell Arms all 3 years. Rent is cheap like $800 for a 1 bedroom with all utilities including cable and internet. You could walk to the law school from there. I lived there by myself as a female and walked around downtown at night to go on campus and never had any safety problems. It's worth checking out. Do not even look at the lofts though they are horrible.sclaw16 wrote:Thanks for helping out. Any suggestions for apartments/condos around the law school?Scotusnerd wrote:Hey folks.
