Top Law Schools

Hi All! I've been waiting for someone to start a thread for us international applicants. Since no one did (or at least I didn't find one for this year), I figured I'd just go ahead and do it.

By "international applicants", I mean those of us who did UG abroad and thus do not have a true LSDAS GPA, regardless of the immigration status.

The whole waiting process is painful enough in itself, yet it gets even more frustrating for us international applicants as there are so many more variables involved and so little information out there. I thought I'd create this thread so that we can have a place to exchange information and just provide support for each other in general.

Please feel free to check in~~~ (Please do, seriously, or else I'll probably be feeling very embarrassed, haha)

I'll start off with my own infomation. "superior"/176/PhD. Almost blanketed the T14 + UCLA on 11/19. I received an interview from GULC a few days back. And nothing else so far...

Fingers crossed...

Checking in. Already in at a few schools and riding out my cycle to see what else happens before I deposit at UVA.

Checking in! I've been lurking on TLS for quite some time now and I was very pleased to see this thread! 168, "superior", two years out of undergrad. I submitted in late September to most of the T14 and UCLA. I've been accepted to UCLA, Cornell and Berkeley so far. Interviewed for Georgetown about 2 weeks ago - still haven't heard back and my status checker is stuck at 10/24/2012 (the date I received the interview invitation), so I'm thinking about e-mailing them. Still waiting on the others with much pessimism good luck to you all!

Also checking in. 168 / superior, straight out of undergrad.

So far accepted at UCLA and Georgetown. Still waiting to hear from others.

I went under review at Berkeley on 11/28 and I'm biting my nails here. It's so encouraging to hear about your acceptance. Congrats to you and all the others already with offers! Now I wish I had sent in my apps earlier than I did, but I had a tough time with the PS, which still turned out pretty weak in the end. )

Thank you! With your numbers I'm sure you'll be fine! Plus, November's not late at all, so stay positive . Oh the PS, what a nightmare. I prefer not to think about mine too much as I really don't think it was very impressive. I'm just so glad all the preparing is over...now it's just the waiting...

Does anyone remember how long it took for the transcripts to be processed?

It tool about 2-3 weeks for LSAC to process my transcripts, sent sometime during October.

they calculated an average score 84 for me.... so it's "above average"..

Waiting for my Dec. LSAT score and got deferred by Cornell.. haven't applied to other schools yet.

Got admitted to NYU a few days ago. My first offer this cycle! I'm excited. Still waiting for others though... NYU is wonderful, but the cost of living of NYC simply scares me....

Are you doing private loan and banking on staying in the US to work after?

I'm 30+ with a couple years of work (so savings) under my belt. I'm also very lucky that my spouse will hopefully obtain the greencard for us before I graduate. So even though we'll be back to ground zero financially after 3 years, I'm banking on finding a job in the US afterwards.

I honestly don't have a top choice. We have to deal with a dual-career situation, so it will come down to where my spouse lands a good job.

Hi everyone!

I'm an international student (French) and will be applying in Fall 2013 for 2013/2014 cycle. I haven't taken the LSAT yet.
If you don't mind I have a few questions, and I thought international applicants probably know the answers better than US applicants. (Sorry if this is a little off topic...)

1) Are there any international applicants here whose mother tongue is not English ? If so, are you perfectly fluent, and did you take the TOEFL or some other test to prove it ?
My English is good and I try to improve everyday, but it is still far from perfect which scares me a little...

2) Do you have any idea of how international transcripts are reviewed ? Do you feel like your evaluation actually reflected your grades ?
I am afraid that I won't get a "superior" because the French grading system is tough (basically, you can't get a GPA higher than 15/20, which would probably translate into a B at most), and even though my grades are good, my school doesn't rank students so LSAC won't know what my grades are worth compared to other students...

3) Is your personal statement related to the fact that you're an international applicant / Do you explain why you want to attend law school in the US ?

4) How did you prep for the LSAT ? Would you advise to take an online course ?

Sorry for asking so many questions but I'm kind of anxious. Feel free to answer only some of them if you want to, and I'd love to hear any other advice you might have.
