Funny thing, I got the email literally as I was walking up to opening reception of ASW at W&L

There are lots of CU v DU threads-- just google search. As to how much more money CU is worth, that is a individual question that only you can answer. No one but you knows your goals, risk tolerance, finances. My take is that CU is a bit better for firms, and considerably better for PI, gov, and clerking. If you want a firm in Denver though, maybe the money at DU is the way to go.jtruj011 wrote:I was accepted 3/1 via email and got the letter 3/5.
3.23/161 URM
I also got in to DU with $26k a year scholarship so I'm having a tough time making a decision, I haven't gotten any scholarship info from CU yet. I'm from California and I am really interested in living and working in Colorado so these schools are at the top of my list. If I don't get offered a scholarship from CU should I still consider attending? I think I would really like living in boulder. I am planning on going into environmental law.
It took them a month to send me scholarship information.laurapesz wrote:In via email today! 3.9/164
Should I be receiving scholarship info soon, based on experience of anyone else here?
How seriously are you considering them?JXander wrote:It took them a month to send me scholarship information.laurapesz wrote:In via email today! 3.9/164

Me? They're in my top 4: UT, Emory, SMU, CU (in that order). CU has given me the most money and they email me every other day (and call me on the others). I have already had a professor call me. You're okay with the limited portability?JXander wrote:Me? They're in my top 4: UT, Emory, SMU, CU (in that order). With all they have offered me, yes. While I have a preference for TX, I wouldn't mind working elsewhere. Especially if it means that when I start work, it will be with less debt. Understand that I receive(d) no family support and went to an expensive private undegrad, so my scenario might be different from another's who perhaps has someone helping her with law school (or helped her with undergrad expenses).JayJones78 wrote:You're okay with the limited portability?

They sent me scholarship info within hours of my acceptance email...strange.

I see from your profile that you want to do a joint-degree. Are you hoping to stay in Minnesota? I'm sure you'll get into UMN with your GPA and respectable LSAT.

Yeah, I got in at the U to both of my programs. Strangely, I didn't get into the PhD program I applied for at Boulder, even though I got into a comparable one at Berkeley. But not Berkeley's law school.
So... either doing the Joint Degree at UMN to save time or to take the better ranked PhD program, add a couple years, and try for better law schools next time around.
I'm not sure what I'll do yet - it depends on what the additional scholarship money looks like as part of the Joint Program. If it doesn't reduce the cost as well, I may just do the PhD standalone at first.
That's a possibility, but given the opportunity for NSF funding for the PhD that I wouldn't be eligible for if I combine it with a JD, it may work out better to do them sequentially. Of course, that means applying to both the NSF GRF and Berk's JD next year and seeing if the GRF comes through before adding the JD.Lord Randolph McDuff wrote:
Hmmm. Maybe Berkeley then retake/reapply next year to get in their joint PhD/Law program?

Oh, definitely. Especially if you plan on mailing in a hard copy. The deposit deadlines are coming up rather quickly.kase5771 wrote:I have been UR since 12/26... would most people on here recommend sending a LOCI?
