great post. Good job. Would be interesting to at least see a snapshot at end of cycle, then future cycles can keep it up and know what to expect.Regulus wrote:Here is a snapshot (as of 2012/11/29) of the LSN applicants who have either applied or intend to apply to the T14 for the 2012-2013 cycle. (Although it is quite obvious, the numbers listed are LSAT/GPA.)
Total Number of Applicants: 496
Min: 141 / 2.36
Max: 180 / 4.18
25th Percentile: 165 / 3.5
75th Percentile: 172 / 3.9
Median: 168 / 3.71
Mean: 168 / 3.65
From the total above, here is a breakdown of each of the special applicant groups as of right now:
Under-Represented Minorities: 71
Max: 141 / 2.36
Max: 177 / 4.1
25th Percentile: 158 / 3.23
75th Percentile: 166 / 3.8
Median: 162 / 3.6
Mean: 162 / 3.49
Non-Traditional Applicants: 41
Min: 153 / 2.7
Max: 178 / 4.1
25th Percentile: 160 / 3.3
75th Percentile: 172 / 3.82
Median: 166 / 3.53
Mean: 166 / 3.55
International Applicants: 12
Min: 157 / 3.45
Max: 176 / 4.1
25th Percentile: 162 / 3.7
75th Percentile: 168 / 3.85
Median: 172 / 3.9
Mean: 167 / 3.84
Lastly, just to give an idea of the relativity of this sample size, based off of the 2012 data, the total entering class size for all of the T14 combined was 4434, so even if 100% of the current applicants on LSN who have applied to the T14 this cycle were accepted, they would only make up around 11% of the total number of matriculating applicants. Of course, many applicants who will take the December of February LSAT will start flowing in later, but the above gives a decent image of what the current pool looks like for those of us who applied early.
wow... Medians stand at 172/3.9 for international applicants?Regulus wrote: International Applicants: 12

I'm totally down with the kitty.jym_dawg wrote:You forgot about the cute mascot. Kitty > bear
I am confused; how is median higher than the 75th percentile? Did those get switched?geary86 wrote:wow... Medians stand at 172/3.9 for international applicants?Regulus wrote: International Applicants: 12

Although the sample size is small, this makes me want to hang myself
This. You should add totals as well. e.g. # with LSAT above 170, # with GPA above 3.75, etc.bizzybone1313 wrote:This is an impressive post for someone so new to the site. You should update it throughout the cycle. It would probably be good idea sometime in January after December LSAT scores and a few other times during cycle.
Oh looks like that's the case...applepiecrust wrote:I am confused; how is median higher than the 75th percentile? Did those get switched?geary86 wrote:wow... Medians stand at 172/3.9 for international applicants?Regulus wrote: International Applicants: 12

Crossing my fingers for #4!!!! PLEASERegulus wrote:I just got done uploading the 2011-2012 data so that anyone who wants to compare it to what is currently on LSN can do so.
More than LSAT scores or GPA, the thing that surprised me the most was the fact that there are only 496 users who have applied or plan on applying to the T14 this cycle thus far, whereas the total number of such applicants by the end of last cycle was over 3 times this number (1630). Some possible factors could be:
1) December & February test takers haven't created accounts on LSN yet
2) Less people are now using LSN than in previous years
3) Users in past years didn't create accounts and register for a cycle until much later in the cycle
4) The applicant pool itself has significantly dropped
If two-thirds of applicants have yet to apply, or if the numbers have really just exorbitantly dropped off this cycle, we might be in for an interesting ride. (Then again, I don't really know the history of application trends... I figured that a majority of applicants would have applied or at least have an intention to apply before December. Does anyone know if the surge of December/February test takers who apply the following fall is really that huge?)
It seems like a little less than half of applicants apply by early January (but 2/3 to 3/4 of T14 competitive applicants). http://lsatblog.blogspot.com/2012/04/la ... plies.htmlRegulus wrote:I just got done uploading the 2011-2012 data so that anyone who wants to compare it to what is currently on LSN can do so.

Awesome! Thank you.Regulus wrote:Yes... sorry about that. I just fixed it.applepiecrust wrote:I am confused; how is median higher than the 75th percentile? Did those get switched

ETA: I wish there was some way to tell how many people were on LSN at this point last year. Too bad someone didn't make a thread like yours then! (Or maybe they did?)
