Yea we actually started the creation of the fb page. Toshiba admins it. Haven't seen a page run by lsu law though.wm227 wrote:A little late on the conversation, but just starting to consider LSU as a contender. Already accepted, of course.
I was talking to my friend who goes there, and she said that a lot of people in her class used the admitted students facebook group to find roommates, since living in a 1 br is so much more expensive than living in a 2, 3, or 4 br. So that's an idea, for those of you whom would like a few more options.

Here's the posted employment statistics for the Class of 2012 in case anyone was interested. Looks like they do a pretty decent job of finding their graduates employments. I'm a little curious about the high number of people in 2-10 law firm positions.

Director of career services addressed that as well- a large majority of law firms in Louisiana are 2-10 attorneys. Being from Louisiana and living here now I can say that this is definitely true, at least in my city. Most of the graduating class remains in La although it isn't uncommon to find opportunities in other states.togepi wrote:http://www.law.lsu.edu/index.cfm?geaux= ... mentsalary

The student panel was probably the most informative at visiting day. One of the students addressed the common competition for summer work and externships/internships at other schools. He was able to intern (I forget where) but there were other students from Duke, Georgetown and other "big" name schools who couldn't believe he didn't have to fight tooth and nail to be there. He expressed an interest, Professor Brooks made a phone call on his behalf, and he was given the internship. They did echo that grades are an important factor in OCIs but they've done a very good job establishing relationships and providing the students with some great opportunities both here and abroad. They mentioned that one student wanted to work in Alaska over the summer and they got her/him in Alaska. I was really impressed. *steps off soapbox now*

Sounds like you guys are all set haha. I'm still waiting on further negotiations because I don't like having high stipulations. Still waiting on others as well.

So after initially not being given anything, I got a new offer in the mail from LSU.
In-State Tuition and then half-off of In-State. So essentially its 3/4 Tuition.

I didn't negotiate per se. My LSAT score increased in February, and I emailed the admissions office informing them of the new score. They never responded to me, but then a couple weeks later this offer came in the mail.
The stipulation is Top 33%

34 out of 139 conditional scholarships were reduced in 2011. Hopefully you don't fall below the top third, but its risky. It is LSU Law’s policy to reduce, not revoke, conditional scholarships for failure to meet retention requirements.
I'm more glad to have the offer for just negotiation purposes.

What kind of employment do you have lined up? Where are you ranked in your class? And if the employment is with a firm, how large is the firm?BriaTharen wrote:A friend of mine who I presume has posted here before told me you kids were in need of someone to answer questions about LSU Law. 1) As far as you know, the other people who were Patent Bar Applicant A eligible, what are they up to?
2) About how many firms interviewed during all of your OCI's? And what is the feasibility of getting to Texas with an LSU law degree?

Did anybody else receive an email notifying you that the stipulations on your scholarship were being slightly relaxed?

Nope, but I did ask for a scholarship bump so that may be tying it up.

Rank: Right now, I'm around 30% (you'll find your motivation drops a ton once you are employed), but when I was offered the job, I was about 21%.

2) About how many firms interviewed during all of your OCI's? And what is the feasibility of getting to Texas with an LSU law degree?
1. I know about three. Two of them graduated within the past 2 years and are employed at large Louisiana law firms (100+ attorneys). The other one I know is still in law school with me, and as far as I am aware, he is currently unemployed.
2. We had a decent amount. I don't have exact numbers on it. During 1L year, it's pretty low-- around 30. For 2L year, we had closer to 80-90 firms. And many firms (especially TX firms) that didn't do interviews did resume collects. As for the feasibility of getting to TX, it really depends on what you want to do. Everyone that I know that has gone to Texas is either working for the PD/DA or in Tax/M&A. If you are trying for patent, you can probably get to one of the smaller firms with a Louisiana degree. But if your end goal is Texas, Louisiana may not be the most practical-- you will have to take a bunch of Code classes which are not going to be of much use to you in Texas.

Thanks for the info. Do you remember what their UG degrees were in? Also, did they have solid grades from UG?

Who did the deposit online via "MyLSU"? IF so, where did you get your log-in info? It's kind of hard to pay it without being able to sign in to the system....
