No idea but the career services person didn't even mention clerkships until someone asked about it lol.sublime12089 wrote:Anyone have any ideas why WUSTL's clerkship number seems comparatively low? 3.3%

It's a lack of institutional connections and commitment to getting that number higher. Clerkship hiring doesn't really work the same way firm hiring does, in that a firm may think "oh hey, this dude is in the top X% at a T20 school, I'll give him an interview." With judges, they don't care so much about where a school is ranked as 1. whether they have hired from there in the past 2. whether they know professors there and would take their recommendations seriously. We just don't seem to have many connections like that, and they're mostly limited to the 8th and 6th circuits (not so much 10th, oddly).sublime12089 wrote:Anyone have any ideas why WUSTL's clerkship number seems comparatively low? 3.3%
As for commitment to improving that #... it just isn't in the water here. We have a very good and helpful clerkship advisor in the career services office, but there is only so much she can do. Professors don't really tap their favorites on the shoulder and suggest they clerk, as they apparently do other places. I know most of the students at the top of the class, and many of them didn't even consider clerking until waaaay too late, just because it's not part of the school's DNA and they hadn't really heard about it.

I love the people in this thread and their feelings toward the school, but I am kind of turned off by their lack of interest in admitted students. I don't mind if I end up without scholarship money, I just need to know so I can withdrawal and give me spot to someone who needs it more. I don't want to put anyone on the spot, but at this point they haven't answered my email. Should I just call them up and straight up ask? I have deposits due forother schools on 4/1 .

Initial thoughts: faculty is great, admin team is wonderful, students seem really happy, campus is beautiful. ASD did not provide much in terms of information. No hard numbers... They definitively were just reiterating the positive and supportive atmosphere.

I've emailed them 3+ times about this and they keep pushing my scholarship-received date forward each time I ask.

Since this is on the website, I assume that those of us late comers are not necessarily close to a decision. Oh well.

Radio silence over here. Pretty frustrating.
