Oh no. You have gotten a call from an unknown St Louis number. But it's Tyrone. And he's pissed.a2blifeUIUC wrote:All I wanted for Christmas was a call from an unknown Missouri phone number...
As a STL native, I thought I'd chime in on the Metrolink. The best words I can think of to describe it is, "It blows!" The Metrolink in St. Louis is not a common form of transportation like rail systems in Chicago, NYC, and DC. Because of this, it's not exactly the best form of transportation, nor is it the most convenient. If you plan on moving to STL to go to WashU, I wouldn't count on this as a way to get around every day. It's good to use to get to Cards games or maybe to go to the airport.cusenation wrote:JesusChrist wrote:Yes, she also mentioned it as a possibility for me. But I'm not sure how to proceed. Either way I think I am going to wait for to packet to arrive before I decide anything. I would really like to see St Louis though.anteater1 wrote:Clifford mentioned a possible travel stipend during the interview, if I get one ill see you guys at ASW
Just so everyone isn't as bewildered as I was last year, apparently their subway/light rail system runs on the honor system. There are no turnstiles or anything to check whether you paid for your fare or not. You're just supposed to pay at one of the machines and hop on. Apparently people in the Midwest are much more honest than us jerks on in the Northeast...
I remember buying my ticket and just looking around to see where I was supposed to insert it..so confused lol
(Evidently there are workers on the trains that walk around periodically to check if you have a ticket, but I rode that thing for 3 days straight during my visit and i never saw anyone check)
All admitted students are considered for that, whether or not they mention it in the letter. Scholar in Law is just their name for the normal merit scholarships that law schools give out. But congratulations!JesusChrist wrote:I just got my acceptance packet in the mail!!!! I'm having my best people (my brother and my mom) working on figuring out if it's hand-signed or scanned.
Something interesting in the letter: They said I'm being considered for one of their Scholar in Law awards. Did anyone (everyone?) else get something like this in their letter? I'd be pretty psyched to get some money.
Also got the stipend. But plane tickets (from CA) are ~400 and the stipend limit is $200. So I'm still waiting for some things before I jump on those tickets.Xs20 wrote:Just got the travel stipend email and RSVP'd for ASD on the 25th
Ditto. Strapped on cash right now... probably going to go to the second weekend.JesusChrist wrote:Also got the stipend. But plane tickets (from CA) are ~400 and the stipend limit is $200.
