I don't see a question there, but I do see an unsolicited dig on a school you don't attend.

As for the other posts, if someone has a question about whether it's worth it to attend without a scholarship, or with $22k, or with full ride, direct them to another post, or PM them, but don't sit here and throw barbs at a school you don't attend. You did this last year as well, and it's just kind of annoying at this point.
How is the above a "dig" on the school? The LSAT median was 158 last year, it looks like it will be 158 this year. I posted that to help people predict their chances--that's it.

I'm sorry that you believe I rain on your school. For what its worth, I tell people that my school isn't worth 200k either. In fact, just yesterday I told a 21 yr old not to rush off to law school and pay sticker at my school. I promise you I have nothing against DU in particular. I know that you have done well at DU (big law SA) and I congratulate you. Hope you are having a good semester.

Yeah, that's what the majority of people are saying, no worries. It is a steep price and I just want to make sure I'm making the right decision. Thanks!
with the 22k discount, total cost looks like 105k + the juice, so like 120-125k. (http://www.du.edu/financialaid/law/cost/index.html) the common poster on this site will urge you not to go to a non T-14 for that kinda price, certainly not DU. in your case, you weren't given any discount at all. LST claims the non-discounted rate is 208k -- http://www.lstscorereports.com/?school=denver.

only people employed by DU will tell you that 208k for DU is a good deal, and that is no joke. people who go there and pay full-freight are being scammed. I'm not picking on DU; same goes for my school and most others. its really pretty simple: the professors and administrators make too much money, and the job market for entry level attorneys is too crowded. the only people not getting scammed by attending a school like DU at full-freight are the super-rich, who can pretty much waltz through life while unknowingly scamming everyone around them.

you can go to DU, work your ass off during and after school, and have a great legal career, but, for lack of a more eloquent way of putting it, paying out the ass for a DU education is just lazy and stupid.

No harm done- I appreciate your opinion. Truthfully, I agree about the price, I do not think DU is worth 200k + debt. With a hefty scholarship, different story maybe. And in reply to your LSAT average comment- several websites have predicted the median dropping next year, too. Law school applicants have really slowed down the past couple of years, hints the odd cycles, slower acceptances, accepting those with relatively lower scores than usual, etc. So thanks to those of you for your thoughts!

Sorry if that wasn't a dig - when I read it, that's what I saw. On another day, it may have looked very different, and I may have just brushed off as what it is: an accurate look at what the median will likely end up being. I think DU tends to get a bad rap sometimes because it's a tier 2 school, when in reality it has some pretty good placement in Denver (and, as you've pointed out, DU and CU tend to place their students in different jobs/areas, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of direct competition.) I don't know why this raises my hackles lately, but apparently it does!

For those that have asked about job prospects, they all depend on what you're looking to do, how your grades come out, how well you network, who you already know, etc. I don't know anyone that had a hard time finding (usually unpaid) summer externships and other employment, and most of my friends are already starting to firm up employment after 3L with little problem. As Lord Randolph said, I lucked out, did well in 1L, and landed a paid SA at one of the bigger local firms. That turned into a 2L SA, and if I don't screw it up too bad, will hopefully turn into an offer.

Questions that I plan to ask when I visit (if you ask any of these I would love to hear what answers they give... YMMV with your comfort level):

1) Do you expect enrollment to be down this year?

2) What impact do you expect the decrease in applicants/enrollements to have on DU's programs? Specifically is DU financially stable short term? Long term?

3) Given the decline in Law School enrollment does DU plan to continue to increase tuition? If so what are the expected increases?

4) In a normal year is it mathmatically possible for all students receiving scholarships to keep them?

5) Your scholarship renewal website says that the median is 3.1 and the scholarship stipulation is 3.0 (below median) but then goes on to tsay that retention is approximatly top 50% of the class. Why the discrepency?

and of course there will be the other questions about program and job placement... These may seem harsh but given the latest artcle from the NYT http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/31/educa ... ?hpw&_r=1& it is very evident that this is a buyers market and its high time law schools were asked some difficult questions.

I don't expect them to actually answer any of those but I would like to see (or hear about) what their reaction is and how they handle the questions.

It may not seem like it but DU is one of my top choices... I just think their scholarship stipulations are unconscionable given the current climate.

Also, take pictures! I hope the visit goes well!!! 8)

I may have something small to contribute. I was accepted last year but without $ and decided to sit out the cycle.

The Dean of Admissions Iain Davis is a really nice guy and he is very easy to talk to. At one of the admitted student events I talked with him for probably 15 minutes and saw several other people do the same. One of my friends also was easily able to schedule a meeting with him. He is very accessible and repeatedly said that increasing tuition is an issue of the system as a whole. The school is beautiful, and Denver is an awesome city. The students who they had talking to us at the ASD where of course in love with the school (naturally a self selecting group). The clinical program at DU also gave me the impression of being very strong and they place a lot of emphasis on it.
