I came in for the second half of the chat, and I was really happy with the students' responses. I was relieved to hear their perspective on maintaining the 3.2 GPA stip and hearing about all the sources of help to ensure the material is stickin'. Makes me excited for the fall!

If you don't mind, could you elaborate on the stipulation discussion? I'm interested to hear about this.Redfactor wrote:I came in for the second half of the chat, and I was really happy with the students' responses. Not a problem at all, dproduct.
The specifics were that there is a seminar series which teaches aspects to succeeding in law school. One seminar mentioned was on how to write (I don't know if it was for tests specifically or they just applied that gained knowledge to their tests); there is a honors program, St. Thomas More, that has tutoring and outlines available; and they were saying the faculty are approachable and willing to help if you go to office hours. Basically, their opinion was, if you are struggling you just have to ask for help and someone will be more than willing to do so.
They never gave me the impression that it is easy to keep the scholarship, but they were optimistic that if you take advantage of the help and you approach law school and your studies like you should, success is very possible.
(Please keep in mind though that I suspect those tapped to be 'student representatives' for this chat probably hold a high class standing and at no point were on the verge of losing any scholarships.)

Oh, and if there are any questions about St. Thomas More, it was described in the chat as an LLS honor society, and that membership is gained through invite only by being in the top 15% of the class.

For those of you who have had a decision rendered, how long did it take for you to receive your letter/packet? I live about 45 minutes away and it's going on four days now since a decision was sent with nothing in the mail. Loyola is one of my top choices so this wait is killing me!!

I can't remember which school it was Pepperdine or Loyola (or both), but they didn't mail mine until 4 or 5 days after they stated decision letter sent judging by the time stamp on it. Once they mailed it the acceptance packet only took 2 days or so to get to me on the east coast. I believe they say if you have not heard for 2 weeks after receiving decision letter sent to contact them though so they can resend it.

Sorry to hear about the delay. I went DR on a Monday and it was in my mailbox on Wednesday evening.bne wrote:For those of you who have had a decision rendered, how long did it take for you to receive your letter/packet? Edit: Forgot to mention I'm in West L.A. about 10 miles from LLS.

I live in Newbury Park. IIRC, I got DR'd on a Thursday and my envelope appeared on Monday.bne wrote:For those of you who have had a decision rendered, how long did it take for you to receive your letter/packet? Those who got scholarships, did you get the scholarship notification in your acceptance packet, or did it come later?

I think I realized how focused I was on amount rather than trying to get grade stip relaxed/removed, and how fine a line there is between being in top 45% and notdproduct wrote:bluegreen wrote:+1cheymao wrote:Scootz wrote:
