Okay, seriously is W&L in serious contention to be ranked T-20 this year? It would absolutely destroy my little faith in the rankings if this occured

Does anyone know what's up with the US News Report statistic that says employed at graduation is 27.9%?

I'm hoping it's a situation where they didn't turn in something or the other by the deadline for it to be incorporated.

I don't remember, but it couldn't have been this low or I'm sure one of us on here would have noticed it.

89.4% to 27.9% is quite a drop regardless. I'm still holding out hope that part of the story is missing.lhanvt13 wrote:http://web.archive.org/web/201206091219 ... -law-03163JayJones78 wrote: +1....

That's a different kind of measure so its not fair to compare(i.e. burger king flipper counts as employed). Using the NALP reports it was around ~55% for the last few years. What's more shocking is that W&L is friggin tiny....that 30% is like 40 people Max.lhanvt13 wrote:http://web.archive.org/web/201206091219 ... -law-03163JayJones78 wrote: +1....

I wrote in a PM that I don't think that it matters much because the way I see it in order to do well past graduation you need to be in the top 20% in any LS in the t30. In that case, you will be fine regardless if its W&L or W&M. If you fall below 30 or 40 percent almost no statistics will save you. If you choose to go to a school below t14 you have to come in open eyes that you MUST do everything to graduate in the top 20% or else bad things will happen. I'm not saying it's easy or attainable to eveyone, but that it's the reality. If you're not there it really doesn't matter what the employment statistics are. Ah true should have looked at the NALP. I wonder why it's so low.. Talked to a bunch of 3Ls with jobs lined up. A decent amount of 1Ls with summer lined up and whatnot :/ I guess they were very selective for their ASW .wannabelawstudent wrote:That's a different kind of measure so its not fair to compare(i.e. burger king flipper counts as employed). Bob morse explains W & L and UCLA specifically in his bloomberg interview at 9:30 in the video. He said the published rates are only for jobs where jd bar passage is required or at least an advantage. He said nothing to believe though that anything that was reported was inaccurate. He said that he only reported these jobs because "he thought these are the jobs that students want." FYI, UCLA was only in the 40th percentile for their employments stats.talesofyore wrote:89.4% to 27.9% is quite a drop regardless. Re: W&L c/o 2016
I think that when choosing in the t20s (i.e 20-32 or so) you have the "luxury" to pick based on first of all region and than second of all fit. I honestly don't think that your job prospects will be different going out of a school that is 23, 26 or 31. It's all the same. You gotta work and work hard trying to secure a place in the top 20% (again, really not saying it's easy to do what so ever or that everyone who will work hard will get there) and then you will find a job in that region or maybe beyond it (i.e NYC biglaw out of W&L or other similarly ranked schools in the east coast) if you're a good interviewer and can bring good things to the table together with your grades. By luxury I mean that because you assume that in order to secure yourself a job you'd have to rank high in the class you can look at things differently. That's why I'm not so alarmed by them dripping two spots and by the difference between them and W&M in jobs.2012Lsatscore wrote:Very true, especially when choosing between schools.talesofyore wrote: Very true. Another thing to note, the rate is by graduation. Not the six or nine month period.Dream Weave wrote: Bob morse explains W & L and UCLA specifically in his bloomberg interview at 9:30 in the video.
