Those offers are per year. I could be wrong but I think their stips are top 50% or so. Pretty brutal but if you are under median at a school like this you should drop out anyway.wbrother wrote:Finally got it! Says 16k, but I need confirmation if that's per year. Does anyone know what kind of stipulations they typically put on their offers? Good standing, top 50%, 30%, 10%, etc?
Looks like they are a lot more generous than last year (although still crazy stingy for what opportunities the school provides). It's up to you guys to decide if it's all worth it of course, all I will say is make sure you do your homework before matriculating at any law school!

Thanks for the info about the scholarships! And yeah I definitely agree, I was hoping for more. I might apply for the PI Scholar since 26k might keep this as an option for me if my other acceptances don't offer any money and I strike out at all the other schools.BigZuck wrote:Those offers are per year. Re: Santa Clara University c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
I am currently working on a spreedsheet that will calculate tuition for the schools that i got accepted so far and estimate the debt coming out of them. Im using a 5% increase in tuition since historically it has been about 7% so im being a bit optimistic. Any advice where i can find actual tuition increases for schools over the last 5 years so I can calculate my own number?

I still haven't received my packet in the mail. I was admitted 11/30. This seems like an extremely long wait. Also, I'm not very impressed with their lack of communication

Congrats! That's pretty good from what I remember seeing in last year's thread. When was your letter postmarked? Yesterday? My mail comes really late in the day, sometimes past 5 or 6 eek! Hoping my letter comes today... makes me nervous that everyone else is getting it and not me.wbrother wrote:Finally got it! Says 16k, but I need confirmation if that's per year. My status updated to "in committee" again today. Nothing yet, just the change in date to 12/13. I hope this is the day..
EDIT:
I just checked. "Deferred to Regular Admissions." I guess it's better than a rejection.

So....
I got this email welcomin me to 'ecsmpus' telling me to get a username and that the website will help me register with classes. Does this mean they think I'm attending?
I applied EA but I'm pretty sure that it's non binding...
I don't want to to go to Santa Clara in light of othet acceptanes.

Re: Santa Clara University c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
Applications are horrendously down everywhere and schools down closer to the bottom like SCU are going to be desperate. WAIT AS LONG AS YOU CAN BEFORE ACCEPTING IF YOU WANT TO GO HERE. They will offer you a ton of money, I promise.
There are schools further down the totem pole that are going to let their standards free fall, and those schools won't be bargained with in the same way. They already see the writing on the wall and they are going to get while the getting is still good. I think SCU will want to still be around when the dust settles, so they will will mortgage the farm and try to hold up standards. This means smaller class sizes, and tons of scholarships.

Oh, and in regards to your question, it is non binding however I was accepted RD and did not get such an email. Maybe it was sent simply because of assumed interest displayed by applying early??

thanks for reassuring me! I was getting paranoid that I accidentally binded myself to Santa Clara... My fiend said it might be a way to try to convince you to go by showing all their resources early.sonny wrote:Thanks.xjustyoursmile wrote:No the scholarship was in the packet they sent me.sonny wrote:xjustyoursmile wrote:So....

I got the "Welcome to E-Campus" email as well, maybe about 5 days after being admitted. Santa Clara's EA is nonbinding, it's just a way for you to login and pay your deposit or decline admission. I'm wondering if your financial award shows up on your e-campus login? (Check under the menu to the left!)

Hmm... I'm still "In Committee", my status changed to 12.14, and I now have "decision letter sent" under my mailings. No email though. Maybe this is what a ding looks like? I know from this thread that a lot usually happens on Friday's from about 6-8 PST, so we'll see.
Anyone else have this particular order of operations?

Same here. Does your deposit amount show zero too? Looking at posts from previous cycles, I'm thinking my "decision letter" will simply be a rejections.crossingfingers wrote:Hmm... Yes. Still zeros in all the deposit categories.
I'm 165/<2.5 with decent softs, non-traditional applicant. I'd hardly be blown away if I was below any GPA floor they had in mind for this cycle, but I would be somewhat surprised to hear a negative response this early, especially given that schools in this range could be fighting tooth and nail to grab LSATs from over their 75th %ile.
Either way, if you're at or above median, I'd really be surprised if they dinged this early, but that's based on not much more than a guess.
Good luck!
