Applied. 3.1 169, so kind of a safety school, but NJ ties and residency might make it worth it with a big enough scholly. Good luck to everyone!

I got an e-mail stating they don't begin the review process until early December, but I'm hoping for a pre-Christmas response as well.

I just got in. Got an $8K scholarship. This was one of my favorites before Superstorm Sandy made pudding out of the eastern seaboard, but now I'm not sure. I may go there, but I'll need to get up to NJ and survey the damage first. Does anyone live there? How bad are things right now?

Congrats everyone. Still waiting for my response from them

. I live in NJ, there is basically zero damage unless you were right on the coast. My shore houses got a little beat up, but nothing that won't be fixed before summer.

Got in via email today. I submitted 9/30. They emailed me confirmation 10/1. I also got a 20k/yr scholly offer. It puts tuition at about the same rate as my W&M offer. I'm from NJ, but I currently live in Brooklyn, NY. I'll be interested to see what they send in the mail. Hopefully it'll get to me sometime this week.

I'm currently sitting on a 158 LSAT with a 3.66 GPA.
The 158 is from October, I am still waiting to get my score back from December.
I am expecting at least a 160+, if not my target of 164.
I'm hopping that a good LSAT score will give me a substantial scholarship. I would need at least $12,000 to consider and would probably accept if given $15,000.
As a NJ resident and someone who wishes to reside in the North-East, I couldn't think of a better financial decision. I am a prestige whore and with a good enough LSAT come December release I might push for BC, W&L, etc... but paying sticker at those schools doesn't seem like a wise choice over Rutgers with a scholly.
Anyone else want to chime in on this mindset?
Thanks!

same .. the possibility of getting a law degree for under 45000 sounds awesome.

The dean just told me I could get in-state tuition if I sign a 12 month lease. That would make Rutgers the cheapest of the schools I got in to. Hmm. Well...looks like I need to visit Newark.

How do people usually get around Newark? I'm coming from Chicago, and I'm used to taking the train everywhere. Do people in NJ mostly drive?

Hi all! I was a 1L at Rutgers-Newark last year and transferred this year. I have one more exam and this popped up on the front page of TLS. I can't tell you where without outing myself, but I can answer some of these questions since it looks like no one else did.

I moved up in August (from out of state) with the expectation that I could rely on public transportation. I live less that 15 minutes from campus on foot. I bought a car in September because there are no real supermarkets in Newark and I did not feel like taking a taxi everywhere or renting one of those by the hour cars. It is definitely possible to live without a car, but it is much better to have one and there is free parking all over the place less that a 10 minute walk from campus. Just don't leave ANYTHING within plain view.

This is true and the reason that I decided to go to Rutgers in the first place. Anyone can get in state tuition with a 12 month lease.

Everything is fine in Newark damage-wise. They were closed for a week this year and had to make it up before exams. The only lasting issue is with the PATH train that works like a subway between New York, Jersey City, and Newark. It still stops at 10 pm which sucks if you ever want to stay out late. But there is always the regular train. You just have to take that from Penn Station in New York. (BTW I had the same scholarship!)
