Received My Akron Acceptance Package

I know that I am new to this (Akron being my first acceptance), but I have to say that they really do a great job of welcoming their accepted students.

The day I was accepted, I was added to a Google Group for accepted students with all kinds of resources and today, I received the actual acceptance package!

The package was literally 3/4 of an inch thick and contained information on just about every aspect of student life and about Akron as a place to live. It even contained a DVD which I haven't looked at yet.

I hope that I will be fortunate enough to get into my first choice, but if not and I have to choose from amongst my safeties, it is this kind of attention that will weigh heavily upon my decision.

Thanks again Akron! This sort of balanced out the fact that I was deferred at UAR - Little Rock today :(

I would imagine it takes a lot of brain washing to convince someone to live in Akron for three years.

I backed out and didn't attend Akron last year, but they did a heck of a job in welcoming me and attempting to make me feel comfortable.

Just got my award offer from them: Full. It's no Darrow but it's a great feeling to have this option! Steep requirement, though. Top 10% of your class during 1L to keep it.

No offense taken, it's awful.

I will admit one thing about Akron, though. For all the bad mouthing they receive for spamming more qualified persons via CRS, they do the MOST amazing job of welcoming you to their school. I've been put in contact with numerous #Ls, alumni from location a, b, c. Several emails from faculty. Just a great overall welcome from them. No other school I've applied to has done the same. Tremendous recruiting effort.

I shot a film in Akron in 2004 and one night my crew and I went to see The Bourne Supremacy and I fell asleep in the theater and woke up three times with my head resting on the shoulder of a complete stranger sitting next to me and he never said a word. When I left the theater I realized my wallet had fallen out of my pocket and went back for it and it was still there...

So if safety and friendliness is something you're looking for - I imagine you could find it there.

Does anyone on here know the answer to this question: Is Akron's seat deposit binding?
