Just got one, too. Went from 0 to 7k/year. I'm getting a lot more from schools ranked ahead of them, and they know that. This is ridiculous.

Just received a rather generous reconsideration offer from GW about 10 minutes ago. Came through email.
Emailed them about two weeks ago. Very happy with their prompt replies as well as their reconsideration #. Looks like Im going to GW! If anyone wants info about my stats PM me.

Yeah, I told Dean Sim my competitive offers on the phone last week and she said, "well, we can't match that." Gonna do the standard negotiation follow-up, but I'm not holding out much hope for GWU at this point.bulinus wrote:Just got one, too. Went from 0 to 7k/year. Accepted December (no $)
Sent competing offers from Fordham, BU, Chicago-Kent in early March, and then updated figures late march.
Final outcome:
- $12,000 / year on merit
- $13,000 / year on need (FAFSA, FA app all turned in mid Feb)
Still very expensive...

When I read the email and saw $15,000, I thought great with need based thats $30,000 a year. Then I kept reading and saw they meant $15,000 total. No thank you.

Got 10K/yr just a short bit ago via email. I'm happy to get something, but is there any chance they're willing to negotiate still at this point? Thoughts? I'm hoping to get it bumped at least to 15/yr.

Has anyone gotten an initial offer increased yet?

Re: George Washington c/o 2016
My 2 cents- I would wait a little bit. I think they would be disgusted that they just offered you $ and you're already complaining for more. Law schools are businesses looking for certain numbers yes, but they are still run by people that like to be treated with respect.hopelessoptimist wrote:Got 10K/yr just a short bit ago via email. edit- at least my experience has taught me this thus far

My initial non-offer was increased to $42,000 total today. It's not an offer I'm scoffing at (unlike BU offering me $0 after taking my other offers into consideration, bitter), but GW is still so insanely expensive. I'll probably be withdrawing tomorrow. Good luck to everyone else!

Did they offer an extension on the deposit deadline? If not, I'd ask for one, especially if you asked for aid consideration a while back.totalgleek wrote:it pains me to say this,
but after finally laying out all my other peer offers, they got back to me today, were VERY polite, but asked if I could wait until after April 15th to get an award alluding to the fact that they have already given out the money that went back into the pool April 1st.

I don't think their out of money, but hoping they will get enough deposits to not have to offer you any. Are either of your numbers above median? I'm not either and I haven't gotten an offer after asking for reconsideration.

Ugh...I asked to be reconsidered from $0 merit aid. Just got the email that they're giving me nothing. With only $15K in need-based aid I don't even know how I can justify going to GW.

Sorry to hear that. Did they give you a later date, or just a flat out "no?"lawsch16 wrote:Ugh...I asked to be reconsidered from $0 merit aid. Just got the email that they're giving me nothing. With only $15K in need-based aid I don't even know how I can justify going to GW.

SteelPenguin, it was a flat out no.

Got back a "no" with a later date for reconsideration...after every other deposit deadline I know of :/ I really want GW, but it'd sure be nice if they could match the offers of higher ranked schools.

Wow. I just sent my financial aid info in on the 29th (apparently my FAFSA just rolled in on the 4th, however), but reading all of this does not make me hopeful.
How long did it take for you folks to get need-based aid after sending your financial aid info? I have a feeling that's all I'll get as I'm below both medians.

Re: George Washington c/o 2016
hey, I deferred GW entry last year and should be joining this September, but I am a foreign student! Does anyone have any idea for scholarships - merit or need based - that you can get if you're not a US citizen? GW didn't offer me anything - I guess already having accepted and deferred doesn't really help the cause
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
