Top Law Schools

Wanted to start a thread for SLU law! I turned in my application this past Sunday

I was accepted last year, but I am reapplying after an October retake to get more $$$!

Submitted my application on Nov. 2nd.

Did you receive a phone call from admissions confirming that they received your application, and giving you info on their decision process?

How long until you rec'vd your login for the status checker? I got an email acknowledging receipt on the 8th, and a phone call from the admissions office on the 14th. Still haven't rec'vd the login info, though.

I received a phone call from admissions the day after I applied and I think I received the email with my username and password a like 2 days later

Thanks for replying. I thought this was a dead thread.

I emailed them about the login, because I haven't received it. I'm thinking it was some type of clerical error.

I wonder how SLU will handle a declining number of applicants. They decreased their class size by almost 100 people last cycle to get their current numbers. This is my first choice, so I'm hoping they don't become more stingy relative to last cycle.

It's in my Top 2. I'm from the area, so it would be nice to not move & possibly keep my job. I have a lot of connections in the STL legal community as well, so it would be nice to continue to build those while in law school.

Did they send you access to the status checker? I still haven't rec'vd it. I'm hoping I'm in the first round of admission decisions.

the status checker has been down for a couple weeks now so don't worry about not having the information yet. That might also be playing a role into why you haven't received the info yet. I emailed someone in admissions about the status checker not working and they told me they have been having problems ever since hurricane Sandy so everything is taking longer

Is SLU a top choice for you?

yes it's my top choice. Makes the most sense for me and I really enjoyed my visit/tour when I was there plus they are building a new law school that sounds amazing. Can't wait to find out. I just checked the status checker and it is up and running again

The new building looks very nice. It would be nice to be the first new class in the building. I drive to STL a lot, so I've seen the construction. I worked in one of the courthouses near the building for a few years, and down the street at a law firm for a few years as well. I'm going to tour the campus when the new building is finished. I'm familiar with their current campus, and I've used their law library before.

I noticed that the status checker was up. Finally rec'vd an email. I've heard from many others who've applied in the past that SLU is notoriously slow with the admissions process.

I have heard the same as well. Although, my file just went under review today! I was told it could still take a couple weeks but hopefully I will find out soon!

Anybody heard anything? I am awaiting my LSAT but watching this thread and a couple others with great interest.

Nope. I've heard from previous applicants that SLU is extremely slow w/ admissions decisions. It took over a month for my file to go complete, and it only took a few days w/ other schools. They said they would roll out some decisions by Christmas. We'll see...

Well my status checker changed to decision made, letter to follow so I emailed someone in admissions and like 2 minutes later I received a phone call letting me know that I was accepted and that all the other information would be in the letter. I had a 3.4 GPA and 153 LSAT but a really strong resume and ties to the St. Louis area.

No. I live 20 mins away, but I want an acceptance before I visit.

No, I'm not going either. I have plans or I probably would have gone.

Looking back to last year's thread, it looks like status checkers will change to this, followed by an email later that around 4 or 5 Central Time.

Anyone else?

Not sure. Mine still says "In Review." They told me that they also call the person once they're admitted. I could be wrong. But, I don't see why they would call to say they rec'vd your app, and then not call to say you've been admitted.

They called me only a couple minutes after my status changed to decision made, letter to follow. SLU was my first choice so I am very excited to be accepted!
