Yeah, my interviewer mentioned it before I was even admitted, so it sounded like a general practice as opposed to a targeted one. A current Vandy student might be able to shed some light on it for us.florida1949 wrote:All she mentioned was that it's for admitted studentsletitloose wrote:Pretty sure that airfare reimbursement is targeted, right?florida1949 wrote:I just had an interview with Christina Williams via Skype. Had my interview early last week and it went very well. My fiance calls me all excited while I am driving home last night. There's a large package from the admissions office at Vandy...
It was an ad booklet for the school with a "how to apply" section in the back.

Judging by these numbers you shouldn't be too worried yet:

It looks like they don't start dishing out many dings and waitlists until January, and prospects get worse the longer the cycle goes.

Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
I haven't gotten a decision yet, but would it be acceptable to send in a LOCI-style "Why Vandy" even without being on the waitlist? I wish I would've iterated in my initial application that Vandy is one of my top choices, and was thinking that maybe if I emphasized that in a LOCI type of thing, it may give me the edge I need with borderline numbers. Yay or nay?
P.S. Merry Christmas everyone

Re: Vanderbilt c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 Cycle)
So when would be a good time to inquire about a stipend for traveling expenses to visit the school? My acceptance letter indicated they do provide them.
Really want to visit Vandy and a little financial help would be appreciated.

If you can't make it to ASW, just email them the dates you want to visit and they should book you a flight. If you wanna go to an ASW, they'll probably contact you closer to time to make arrangements.nsideirish wrote:So when would be a good time to inquire about a stipend for traveling expenses to visit the school? Can any admitted applicant apply to those? Or do you need to receive an invite?M458 wrote:If you're applying for the Law Scholars Merit Awards, the deadline is January 10th. anyone hear anything about scholarships/financial aid, or do they not give those out until later?

WHAT? You've got to be kidding us.BigZuck wrote:My interviewer asked me what other schools I applied to, I told him I got in to Duke and he got all excited, then spent a couple minutes explaining how awesome it would be to go to Duke. It's a good school, Nashville seems really cool and I loved the black box. I am a little worried that it would be a lot like high school. Seems like it would be a great fit for someone who loved the Greek lifestyle in college. As both an old and a lame I don't know if it's for me. But I'm looking forward to checking it out at ASW and will keep an open mind.

This really contrasts with the rest of TLS users who had interviews at Vandy (all of our interviewers sold us Vanderbilt!)BigZuck wrote:I am 100% serious.Mdenis1 wrote:WHAT? That was what he said verbatim. I don't know what I have to gain by lying but you guys are more than welcome to not believe me.
Read through the OD on the plane back home for Christmas and it got me a lot more excited for Vandy than I was when I posted that. My interviewer's experience was probably very atypical because it seems about as happy of a law school as there can be and students seem to love it. Can't wait to visit!

Hey 0Ls! I'm a 2L from California who picked Vandy over Texas and Georgetown. Feel free to PM me (I rarely check TLS, so I probably won't reply if you ask a question on this post) with any questions/concerns you have about Vandy. Good luck!
