You know how there are all these books of "the college essays that got kids into harvard and princeton!", there really should be a book of 250s. I'd actually read it, because the range and variety of these things has to be pretty incredible. And one minor grammar mistake, unless it's a true howler, shouldn't hurt you.bernaldiaz wrote:Mine had to be the worst. I caught a grammatical mistake in it a couple weeks later. OMG, what if they have us all in some sort of applicant bracket?
Not at all. ONE of you will win.

I'll share mine after the cycle so we can determine who wins the cheese contest.HopefulBulldog wrote:Meh, if it fits with the rest of your application, then it probably just comes across as genuine, your voice. I think it fit in with my app as a whole with the hardship -> optimism concept, but it really laid it on thick. It's a totally true story, but anyone who didn't know it would probably think I was exaggerating.

Re: Yale c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
One of the perks of thinking I had absolutely zero shot at Yale was I was very easily able to put the application process behind me (It was only after they persisted in not rejecting me for so long that I started thinking I had a shot...) and haven't looked at my 250 since I submitted. The hard drive my original copy on has since crashed - I could read it through LSAC, but it's a long enough process to get to it that I've been able to stop myself because I know it would just drive me insane.bernaldiaz wrote:Mine had to be the worst. I'm totally happy to share mine after, as a how to get Yale to not reject you right away if nothing else.

Mine was fairly cheesy.
