If you're looking to practice in Boston, you should go to BC over BU. Hands down.

I should add that BU explicitly said they don't match. I bet you could get a few more $$$ out of BC though.

I am not sure why you say this - I recently spoke with a 2012 BU law grad and said that basically everyone in the top 40% of the class got pretty decent jobs and that if you have ties to Boston, BU is a great place to be. She was not on law review, but did do moot court, and she got multiple offers, as did her friends (also not law review). She was top 1/3, she said.

I think a lot of people live in the Cambridge area, across the Charles River from BU. Commonwealth Ave is really nice, but I think tends to be a bit more expensive (it's where the school itself is).

+1

Also, I got BU to increase my scholarship by 6K a year to match BC so I definitely wouldn't just throw out that blanket statement about BU.

They didn't match my BC offer.

The only people who live in Cambridge are those who have a spouse/partner/sibling who goes to Harvard or MIT. There's no point in living there as it's not going to be easy to access public transit and get to school. You're going to need to live on the green line, either B or C.

Guess that makes sense...most of my Boston friends are married!

The other reason to live in cambridge is that its better, cleaner, nicer and you get more value for your rent $.

I'd say Alston/Brighton, a bit closer and much cheaper than Cambridge

updated to 4/8...have heard nothing...are they rejecting by snail mail??? Applied early January - anybody else still waiting on a decision? I think schools should refund application fees if they can't give a decision by April 1st. Or maybe late decisions should automatically get an increase in their fin aid package but this would only work if they were accepted!

Allston and Brighton are far cheaper than Cambridge...and both are really close to the school, but there are a lot of cheaper houses you can rent if you manage to find 3-4 roommates

Just emailed admissions to withdraw. Freed up some $$ and a seat for those waiting. Best of luck!

Also, I got an automated response that they would be closed on Monday for Patriots' Day. Those waiting will likely have to wait until Tuesday.
