I don't really get worried about skepticism over the internet. I'm guessing it's the lack of an interview that's suspect here. I realize the point of this forum is to give people an idea of what to expect etc., and I can give everyone my anonymous internet assurance that I'm not lying/have nothing to gain from doing so etc., but people will take that as they will.
If anyone cares, I know of three other people admitted without interviews. All of them were HLS legacy. An Exeter classmate of mine was admitted this cycle, sans interview, with a 172.
Obviously it's difficult to believe that anyone in my situation exists, let alone posts on TLS.
But, really, do what you can to take your mind off things. Sorry, I guess.

Congrats to the JS1s (and the JS2 guy from that Exeter place)!
[Those without JS1s or who've been waiting for JS2s, if you want a good night's rest, don't scroll down]
Not to make anyone royally anxious or anything but...
Now that they've shown that they're back to work and that they've gotten the next batch of JS1s out of the way, I sense the first wave of rejections is now imminent. Last year it was the first Friday in January. Godspeed, everyone

It seems like they got some early applications out of the way today, clearing up for a wave of rejections and holds.Lavitz wrote: Not to make anyone royally anxious or anything but...

Don't say that!!! I already swore up and down to my parents that I would definitely be on the west coast, so I'm moving back there before everything is in. I said if I got into Harvard I'd buy them a vacation every year once my loans are all gone, and I'm banking on that not happening

They'll let you know alright. They will send some sort of email saying that they haven't reached a decision and are holding the application. It's not very pretty from that point forward.nextstep222 wrote:WIll they tell us explicitly if we've been held, or will we know just based on their radio silence?rehsalt wrote:It seems like they got some early applications out of the way today, clearing up for a wave of rejections and holds.Lavitz wrote: Not to make anyone royally anxious or anything but...

This is terrifying. Although I could see them holding a ton more people this year due to decreased applications.Lavitz wrote: Now that they've shown that they're back to work and that they've gotten the next batch of JS1s out of the way, I sense the first wave of rejections is now imminent. Also worth mentioning that last year the hold e-mails came the Monday following the Friday rejections.rehsalt wrote:They'll let you know alright. I don't think you have anything to be terrified about, my newly-promoted numbers twin who probably has better softs than mebroadstreet11 wrote:This is terrifying. Although I could see them holding a ton more people this year due to decreased applications.

Congrats to all the JS1s. I'm more than willing to help people prepare for the interviews, and you can also check out Regulus's thread on Interviews.

I don't expect anyone to know.wert3813 wrote: Don't feel bad it's the only high school in the country pretentious enough to expect the common person to know who they are. (Although, ironically every person I've met from Exeter has been incredibly nice.)

I just got my email invitation for JS1, but it seems that there are actually no available interview slots. Anyone else having this problem? I hoping its a glitch, and not me just being too late checking my email and everyone else snapped them up or something.

Same problem, got the JS1 yesterday but there was only one interview slot left at a time that I cannot do it. I'm guessing they'll open more soondsmitter wrote:I just got my email invitation for JS1, but it seems that there are actually no available interview slots. Anyone else having this problem? Re: Harvard c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Strategy Question:
Last semester I got all As, which bumped my GPA from 3.5 on the nose to 3.5x. Should I send an updated transcript or should I wait until I'm waitlisted or held to send it as an LOCI?
Also, why doesn't Harvard love me?
