That's not unusual. I'm going to Vanderbit in a couple weeks and they do the same thing because they don't want the students to get distracted so late in the semester. They're having a mock class just for admitted students instead. I don't know if Georgetown has something like that insteadSteelPenguin wrote:I just found out that Georgetown doesn't offer tours or allow class sit-ins to applicants in Feb/March. The PILS is an exception to the stacking.
I called the admissions office because the PILS is not distributed by the financial aid office and I got a voicemail, probably because its lunchtime there.

So the need-based Dean's grants -- For 1L only or per-year?

Just spoke to the admissions office. PILS notifications will not go out until April....
In regards to grants for 1L--with need based aid the grant amount is for that year only. Each year you resupply for finances and the amount is recalculated. I imagine (and hope) that if your family's financial circumstances do not change then this amount would be nearly replicated each year.

I just got an email to participate in a group interview in Boston. I know they say your app will not be negatively impacted if you don't go, but what do you guys think? Are there a lot of people you know of who have gotten in who did not participate in the group interview? My work schedule is very busy for the next couple of weeks and it would be very hard for me to make it, so unless it seems like I absolutely need to I probably will not go.

After everything that's happened, you still trust Gtown? You're a better man than I.

Need based aid should not be a game...I plan on researching it though.MacB wrote:Rory19 wrote:Just spoke to the admissions office. PILS notifications will not go out until April....

Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I went to a NYC one and I'm glad I did it. I'm still waiting to hear back, but I'm pretty sure I improved my chances by showing up. From what I understand, if you're a candidate whose numbers aren't median or above, you should really go if you want to get in. If you are above 75th%, they might be gauging your actual interest and decide whether or not to YP you. In this case, if you can't make it, you might be able to send an e-mail explaining that you would like to interview but are unavailable for the given dates. Someone else did that earlier in the thread and was still accepted.jlh1128 wrote:I just got an email to participate in a group interview in Boston. your schedule is SOOOOO busy that you can't carve out an hour to discuss your future? Seriously? You want to go with that thought?I just got an email to participate in a group interview in Boston. Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I submitted Need Access and FAFSA in February with Gtown listed, and just did my "Yellow Form" last night. I know there were some squabbles with merit aid last month, but I never received any email about it.
I'm wondering what the time frame is for grants and merit aid. Based on the $ I've received from higher ranked schools, I'm estimating I should hit more than half tuition at Gtown in merit but it doesn't seem like they are particularly generous. Is it worth reaching out to Cornblatt to ask? How long does it take to hear back after submitting your "yellow form" on ASW, and when have your merit awards generally gone out? admitted early december for reference.
thanks!

I turned in my Yellow Form on 2/27 and got my Financial Aid Award yesterday. The award does not include merit aid. You can also scroll up to see what the financial aid office shared with me this morning about need vs. merit aid.jbagelboy wrote:I submitted Need Access and FAFSA in February with Gtown listed, and just did my "Yellow Form" last night. In b4 you don't get half tuition at GTown. That's not how they roll.jbagelboy wrote:I submitted Need Access and FAFSA in February with Gtown listed, and just did my "Yellow Form" last night. I know there were some squabbles with merit aid last month, but I never received any email about it.

Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I guess it just varies by school, but i did my campus visit to Michigan last April 6th and sat in on a class, had a student give me a tour, etc. They had no issues giving me one. Maybe vandy/gtown just think their students are too fragile to handle an unknown person in their ecosystem....SteelPenguin wrote:I'm not admittedkraffcook wrote:That's not unusual. Citizenship update is the big one, I think.SteelPenguin wrote:So my status checker finally went complete again for the first time since my interview. About 15 seconds after I saw the new status update, my phone went off with a new alert. Afraid it was a waitlist from Georgetown, I actually screamed "No!" at my phone.
It appears that applications usually go complete 3-4 times before a decision is made.zbenson wrote:After 2 months of nothing my status updated to completed today, Anything I should be looking for?

I had an update today also. Did not get the country of citizenship though, also did not receive a waitlist email. I guess a ding may be coming soon. I don't know how many updates this has been to be honest (for some reason my status checker app does not work anymore, is anyone else having that issue?)

"The Scholarship Committee has just finished the initial selection process for our limited amount of scholarship funding and we are unable to offer you merit based aid at this time."
Well, at least they finally got back to me after more than a month
