Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
So I applied late 2/20 for PT @ Georgetown because I have fee waiver and thought what the heck give it a shot.
I am a splitter and a marginal applicant- not sure about PT as there is too little data - FT LSN indicates I would probably be dinged/waitlisted.
I have my 3rd complete today and no interview request. Complete on opginally on 2/21, then 2/25 (i think)2/28 and 3/1. Should I be taking the lack of interview request and quick updates as a bad sign?
Sigh. I'm probably over thinking but hey what is TLS for?

For those that have been accepted, is this booklet of faculty profiles the only thing they send us post-acceptance?

Don't lose hope, the interview request I received is specifically for people in this city/area (LA)jone7007 wrote:So I applied late 2/20 for PT @ Georgetown because I have fee waiver and thought what the heck give it a shot.

Just got the scholarship, it's funny that they gave me the exact the amount another higher-ranked school did. That's called match?

I also recently received a large promotional booklet via media mail. Everything else that most schools send in acceptance packets is sent via e-mail and/or posted on the Admitted Students Website. At least thus far for me and I was accepted in October.HankBashir wrote:For those that have been accepted, is this booklet of faculty profiles the only thing they send us post-acceptance?

AH! ME TOO!
"It is my pleasure to inform you that you have been awarded an academic scholarship for the entering class of 2013. This scholarship, in combination with any need-based grants you may receive or have received from Georgetown, is for $15000.00 for each of three years of full-time study here at the Law Center.
As you may know, this has been an extremely competitive admissions year nationwide, and especially here at Georgetown. We will likely receive over 7,500 applications this admissions cycle. The competition for these scholarships was extraordinary, and you should feel justifiably proud of your accomplishment.
To accept the scholarship, please return the attached Intent to Enroll form and your tuition deposit of $400.00 by April 1, 2013. Please note that if you qualify through the Office of Financial Aid for a need-based grant of more than $15000.00, you will receive that higher amount instead. Caroline Springer, Associate Director of Graduate Admissions, will serve as your personal contact in the Admissions Office. Should you have any questions, please contact her directly at cts26@law.georgetown.edu.
Please accept my sincerest congratulations."

EDIT: I answered my on question. And I doubt I'll qualify for need-based...

Does this mean if I apply for need-based, I can't get anymore than 15,000?
I read the letter to state that if you apply for need based and you qualify for more than $15,000 you get the need based aid and this merit offer goes away. If you qualify for say $12,000 in grants you do not get the grants and instead get this scholarship.

Nah, I'm not a rage quitter... Probably considering GULC is the only T14 I'm actually willing to go to other than HYS :X. Personal preferences.
Thanks Rory. I think I also interpreted it that way too. Hmm, darn.

I got the same offer. I'm obviously excited to get it, but it was the same amount that I had gotten from a higher ranked school so I had expected them to try to beat it.

$27,500/year offer just now. I guess that equates to pretty much half tuition. Definitely happy! I wonder if they'll be open to negotiations and the April 1 deadline seems rough.

$20,000 per year offer by email a short bit ago. Stats/LSN in profile.
This would need to be negotiable for me to attend GULC...

Any news on PILS scholarships? If memory serves me weren't they reviewed in early/mid March last year?

LOWBALLED. 22.5k a year. I will make it my mission to get this higher because I want to go here and I think I deserve more.

Sent a Why X. Had my interview a little over a week ago and a slew of updates in the past 7 days. Felt like I might as well give every bit I can.

Congrats to everyone on the offers! In seeming accordance with the reported trend, GULC matched my reported T14 offer.
Are most of you planning on negotiating? I have read the negotiation thread but do you think an additional/higher T14 offer will be necessary in this case?/Do you think GULC will even be willing to negotiate these "finalist" offers?

These matching offers are making me really wish I had tipped my hand instead of playing coy when it came to actually giving concrete numbers. :/

Re: Georgetown c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I already sent in an email asking for more. They didn't even match my offer from a higher ranked school, and that was really disappointing. I want Gtown so bad and I simply cannot justify attending with the amount I received. Hopefully they recognize the sincerity of my request and raise the amount...congrats to all who received offers.suitsftw wrote:Congrats to everyone on the offers! Now that these offers are out, are we expecting another batch of finalist emails to come out for people admitted recently? Any idea on a timeframe?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
