Doesn't that mean they'd have to pay you?

I also have some pretty good offers on the table. I was going to be as frank as possible in my response to the merit scholarship email and disclose the dollar amount offers I have gotten from other schools.BlackadderIn wrote:Same here. Wondering... I got an excellent offer from UCLA and quite decent offers from Michigan and UT. Not sure if I should mention these to GULC. But the email does sound like they are specifically asking for these info...risa wrote:I was wondering as well whether this is an appropriate time to put other schools' offers on the table... I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by low-balling, but nor do I want to sound too disinterested with a "make me your best offer and then we'll talk" kinda response.

Got my letter in the mail today!!!! Nice handwritten note
Complete 1/7
Updates on 1/14, 1/30, 2/1
Letter postmarked 2/1
I was invited for a group interview on 1/18 because I'm in DC, but I couldn't do it because of work stuff.

when you say updates, is that just the date changing but staying at "application completed" until the end? did anything show up under your mailings?
congrats!

Re. the scholarship email... I also straight up requested a full ride. I don't have any money anywhere else (yet- fingers crossed) but I just listed the other schools I had been accepted to and said a full ride is what it would take for me to seriously consider Georgetown. No idea if it will work but I decided to go for it.

I received a law school info booklet from G-town in snail mail. But mostly it's just email correspondence.az21833 wrote:whats the next method / piece of correspondence following the acceptance letter? just in case we only get about half our mail....thank you sandy

I don't think any schools do $270,000 scholarshipsLRGhost wrote:"Due to the financial requirements of law school and the uneasy job market, approximately $45,000 a semester will be required for Georgetown to be the number one choice in my law school considerations."Cicero76 wrote:Also got the email. The deadline is rather quick--I don't know if I can know in three days whether Georgetown is a serious consideration. And it definitely won't be without something like a full ride....I have no idea how to politely put that in an email.

I just cited LST employment scores as the reason they would have to beat my offer from Michigan.

Are those who have offers on the table outright stating those amounts/schools?
I have offers from Michigan, Texas, Virginia and GW so far. GW's is by far the biggest but I know GULC doesn't consider them a peer. Do you think there's any chance they'd match the $20k/year Virginia offered me? Is there any chance they would offer more (so should I not state the exact dollar amount from Virginia?)

Yes. The email doesn't mince words - they're asking how much $ it takes to buy our love, and I figured it will be fine to reply candidly. I explocitly stated what my other top choice is offering $-wise and let them know I want to graduate with as little debt as possible.risa wrote:Are those who have offers on the table outright stating those amounts/schools?

Also got the merit scholarship e-mail, but have decided to withdraw. Best of luck to all applicants still waiting for an answer, as well as admitted applicants in terms of getting some scholarship money.

Does anyone know if Georgetown offers travel subsidies/assistance for those wanting to visit the school? I thought I heard that they didn't because of the large number of apps, but I'm not sure.

I had a similar reaction when GW waitlisted me after I drove 4 hour for an interview. I got a lot of good info from the interview, though, so maybe focus on that part. Also, it might help you get off the waitlist.

Preferred Waitlist after a group interview a couple of weeks ago. Crossing my fingers...
