Well, that's definitely not very encouraging.slack_academic wrote:I guess there isn't a floor exactly. More like with my LSAT, no one got in with less than a 3.7ish according to LSN.Nash wrote:Hey everybody! Checking in...

Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
That's not entirely true. Someone got in with a 3.21/178, 3.3/176, 3.43/175, 3.5/168, 3.55/169, and there's a few more. Granted those are pretty good LSATs and there's just a few green's in a sea of red. LSN makes it look like your best shot is to have a above a 3.7 and have scored higher than 172.Nash wrote:Well, that's definitely not very encouraging.slack_academic wrote:I guess there isn't a floor exactly. It's not the norm, but it certainly reflects a lot about Berkeley's pull in CA.
NICE. Wow thank you for dropping in and saying that. Honestly, the one big reservation that I have about Berkeley is getting employed afterwards. But it's probably a bunch of pro-Columbia people who have been stoking that fear, huh

I hope the bolded is true, but something tells me even that is a little optimistic. 3.8+ GPA is the true safe zone, according to the colorful graph on myLSN. But maybe I'm just being paranoid/not reading the data correctly.Psib337 wrote:

FWIW, I was admitted in the first round with a 3.7 and 174. Of course, there are other factors, and I wouldn't call 3.7 the "safe zone", but the 3.7 didn't make them drag it out at all. I'm non-URM.outlookingin wrote:I hope the bolded is true, but something tells me even that is a little optimistic. 3.8+ GPA is the true safe zone, according to the colorful graph on myLSN. Re: Berkeley c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013 cycle)
Oh, well I'm a URM so I count those. Even though LSN makes it look like it's easier to get into Stanford than it is to get into Berkeley. Even though now that I look again there's more waitlists whereas with Berkeley it's just a straight out rejection.slack_academic wrote:The sub-170 candidates you listed are URM, too. No kidding about that sea of red, though. So many rejections.Psib337 wrote:

Does anyone know the minimum font size we're allowed to use on the PS? Thanks

There is a "Why Berkeley" option, right? My SO's family is from SF. Is that a legit reason? Otherwise I can weave it into my PS but that would be awkward.
Does anybody know where I can find a copy of the old application? I guess this app. opens soon anyway...

From what I've heard, there is no WhyBerk. You'll have to blend it into your PS, but I agree, discussing your SO's family would be awkward... in a PS that is.outlookingin wrote:There is a "Why Berkeley" option, right? Maybe you could write a Why Berkeley addendum?outlookingin wrote:There is a "Why Berkeley" option, right? My SO's family is from SF. Is that a legit reason? Otherwise I can weave it into my PS but that would be awkward.

This post is kinda cool:
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 22&t=94015
But the thing is, I'm wondering if Berkeley is going to read it and whether or not having family in the area is worth mentioning. Hmmmm.... decisions, decisions. What does my heart say? How about my stomach? I'll get back to you guys.
